PLU 34 Menlo 10:
PLU throws 1 INT but Menlo throws 3
PLU gains 364 yds vs. Menlos 124
Lutes get sacked 3 times but Menlo gets sacked 7 times!
A sign of the change in the Lute program though:  10 penalities for 80 yds.  That doesn't sound like PLU to me....(and I'm a Cat fan).
The difference was that the Lutes took advantage of the gifts from the Oaks and played with more emotion. They looked pretty good, like a team coming around. The penalties were procedures mostly. On one Lute kickoff they had a procedure call and then they kicked out of bounds. Trying to keep the ball out of the big return man for the Oaks.
I was impressed with the size of the Lute crowd down here. Still strong with the Attaways, EMAL, and when the Siants come Marching in after scores.

Thanks for the on-site observations Cawcdad.  It was pretty clear from the stats that PLU capitalized off the turnovers as their offense stat were not necessarily indicative of the 34 pts (though still not bad).

Also, I looked over the Whitworth-L&C stats some more and noted that as many points as the Rats scored, it was still their strong D that made that blowout possible.  The Rats had great field position all day starting many of their scoring drives in the Pios territory thanks to the turnovers.    Not to mention the Pios only had 7 first down and only 3, count them, 3 drives that were more than 3 plays (11-68 yds ending in field goal, 6-28 punt, and 6-11 punt).  That is unbelievable if you ask me.

Less than 30 minutes to kickoff.  Time to get focussed on Wildcat football!

Here's hoping Linfield can put together 2 solid halfs tonight.  The last 2 weeks we've played strong 2nd halfs after mediocre first halfs.  I want to see that Salty D get in the SO QB's face.

Go Linfield!

Heard from reliable Menlo source that SOU had to forfeit the game to the Oaks because the Raiders used an ineligible player.

cawcdad  ;

are you sure it was just one ineligible player :o?  They are the Jail blazers of the south...   :-[

Just the one was mentioned. ;D Supposedly the one that returned the KO for the win at the end of the game. That from a not as reliable source. ;)

My comment about menlo's field was a joke.  Not only do they have one of the worst fields on the west coast (next to eastern oregon), the visiting team has to walk about a mile to the field from the locker room (and thats not much of an exaggeration).  Good win today for the RATS, the defense continues to carry the team on its back.  Clark finally played to his ability (albiet against an extremely overmatched LC), and the subs held LC to less points than the starters could.  Bring on the Oaks.

So far, the D is tasting salty......but let's add some more salt!
