Yes Trevor passed for great yardage and 5 tDs but give some love to his O-Line please.  This kind of effort does not happen in a vacuum.  Give credit where it is due.  The O-Line has made great improvement since the first game and it's time some of you guys mention them in your posts as well.  There's no great offensive numbers without an Offensive Line doing its job in the trenches.  They don't get the glory in the paper, true, but then I don't expect sports' reporters to know much about the sport they cover.  But you all know the score, so give them their due!!!! ;) :) :D ;D
Boy could I have used one of GCHarbor's longies as my BC team was self-destructing on Saturday.  I'd like to say what I've been thinking all weekend about that game but I've come to the realization that there is no socially acceptable way to phrase it.  :( :(  Oops 345 am, my students had best be on their best behavoir later this morning.
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

Personally can't wait to see the whitworth vs. linfield game.  Hope the players don't look past Menlo.  I know the Oaks have had some troubles this year (like letting LC stay in that ballgame), but I think some of you remember 2 years ago when whitworth had to travel down to atherton to play a 1-3 menlo team.  That year whitworth gave linfield the second closest game of their season and had a legitimate shot at going to the national playoffs had they beat willamette, but it took an overtime to get past menlo at their place.  Hopefully this year it isn't even close.

I know whitworth hasn't played anyone as good as linfield yet this year but chew on this wildcat fans...17 interceptions in 6 games, the RATS defense has been a little (i think this is how you in mac say it) "salty" against the pass this year.

Nov. 4th will be here soon enough. For now I'd focus not only on the Menlo trip...but finally getting back at Willamette. They've had your number.

Lutes should be able to give the 'Cats something of a challenge.

I agree 100% with D-Train.  I don't really care about the Linfield/Whitworth game because THIS weekend is huge.  Playing PLU up at Sparks is never an easy task.  I'm looking forward to an old fashion PLU/Linfield battle.

BTW....Puyallup forecast for this weeked (www.accuweather.com) is calling for mostly sunny skies with a high of 59 degrees.  It's also calling for all fans to bring a can of mace and a car alarm for entering the greater Puyallup area.  ;)

You can save your mace and car alarm for when we get a stadium on campus. Puyallup thugs are harmless (just like the meth heads in Mac)...they got nothing on Parkland.

:D

I grew up in a farming community in Idaho; less than 100 students were in my high school class. While I wouldn't trade my time at PLU for anything...let's just say that living in Parkland for 5 years expanded my horizons a bit.

WC11, Classic!

d-train, are you going to be at the game? You could be our personal  Host or Ambassador.  8)
Just a thought.

I ran an  Elk's regional Soccer kick off at the Elk's Lodge in Puyallup a few years ago, good thing I didn't know about the high crime and thugs. I guess I'm lucky to be here!  ;)

(509)Rat.... The Wildcats take it one game at a time. But, as I chew on the Rats 17 Interceptions, I couldn't help but notice that 5 of them were against the 0-5 Pio's in a 70-3 drubbing.... 70 points?
Qb season stats.....

Joel Clark, Whitworth, 6-games, 84 c-130 att -(5 Int's),  9 Td's 1247 yards, 207.8 a game.

Trevor Scharer, Linfield, 5-games( really only 3) 78 c-116 att -2 Int   11 Td's 1117 yards, 223.5 a game.
Interesting!!!
                                             ONE GAME AT A TIME!

                                                      BELIEVE!
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

d-train, are you going to be at the game?

No, not this year. I'm flying out of state on Friday for a week. I'll catch the Lutes the next weekend at L&C and might crash a tailgate out your way on Nov. 4th.

This is my first time travelling to PLU. Should I stay somewhere away from Parkland and Puyallup?
Go Cats! Make it 62 in '17!

No, no...you'll be fine in Puyallup or Tacoma. Just don't go for some budget motel on Pac. Ave. in Parkland. I think there's a Holiday Inn Express near the stadium (in Puyallup) that is pretty nice and very convienent. Or there's some places near 84th or 72nd and I-5. And certainly go check out the PLU campus (and UPS if you've never seen it). I'd recommend dinner at "From the Bayou" right next to PLU.

Oh...and the Country Rose for breakfast. It's south on Pac. Ave. (across from the Spanaway Golf Course). They have a couple varieties of a 'hobo hash' plate where they scrumble a bunch of stuff in with eggs. Good, good eats.

Tux - I'm planning on it.

This week's Picks:

Whitworth at Menlo:  Look for Whitworth to roll again but not nearly as well as they did last week.  Menlo has a better defense than Lewis and Clark and does not turn the ball over as much as the Pios.  Still, they are outmatched in this one on all sides of the ball.  Whitworth's offense scored a ton last week through the air and on the ground and should use a similar mix again this week as Menlo gives up some yards via run and pass.  I think Menlo will score some points but I'd be surprized if they have more than 2 scores.  Whitworth wins big in this one.  Rats 42 Oaks 10.

Linfield at Pacific Lutheran:  Could be an interesting game.  PLU and Linfield both are stronger passing teams and this may be the first team the Cats face that are actually (statistically speaking) a less effective running team than they are.  Defensively, the Lutes are statistically strong vs. the pass but this is in part because they played some running teams that did not throw the ball much (UPS, UWRF).  When they haved faced some throwing teams they have given up yards (e.g. Chapman and Whitworth).  They are not particular strong against the run which could allow the Cats to try to balance things out a little and maybe, maybe mix in some more interesting running plays.  The big question is will the Cats fix the problems exposed with their pass D against SOU.  If they do, they should dominate this game.  If they don't, it could be a shootout.    I'm going for the former and calling this one as Linfield 35 PLU 14.

Lewis and Clark at Puget Sound:  Lewis and Clark was completely destroyed last week by Whitworth's defense and  offense.  Puget Sound, on the other hand, finally broke the 28 point barrier in their "closer than it should have been" win against the Willamette.  What makes this one interesting is that UPS is not great against the Pass and Lewis and Clark has a strong passing offense.  UPS on the other hand runs the ball well and L&C is last in the conference against the run.  This one could end up being a shootout of sorts but look for Puget Sound to control the ball and time of possession with their running game.  If Lewis and Clark can avoid throwing the INT they will stay close in this one.  However, that is a big if and one that I don't think they can pull off.  UPS wins this one and breaks the 28 pt margin again 35-21.

Willamette has a bye to get ready for Whitworth on the 28th  :)
Go Cats!
