If (Albertson's) College of Idaho ever rejoins the NWC, I might just have to take a trip to Caldwell.  My best friend was recruited there to fence - despite the fact he'd never fenced before in his life.

Did they have him specialize, or fence just about anything? :o ;D

I was going for type of merchandise to fence, but yours works too. ;)

[Don't worry, Bearcat, I knew what you really meant - Wayne St. in nearby Detroit has long been a power in fencing (of course, mentioning Detroit will raise lots more fencing jokes! ::))]

All of the discussions I've sat in on indicate to me that the NWC would keep Menlo as an affiliate member in football, even if the heavens opened and GFU and Whitman joined Pacific in bringing back football.  The NWC needs Menlo to survive (and thrive) as a DIII program, as we do any DIII programs on the west coast.  Losing Colorado College hurts.

Thanks Steve for the update and inside info!  I'm 100% with you on keeping Menlo as part of the NWC for the long haul.  I think it would take more than an act of God to bring football back at Whitman.  Without a doubt Whitman has the funds to do what they want but I see Reed College having football before Whitman.  :)

Northwest Conference football 2011*?

An 8th football member would be great but how about a 9th?  Can anybody put in a call to Marv out at College of Idaho to see if they are going to be leaving the NAIA anytime soon?

Now you're talking, WC11.  It would be awesome to have C of I back in the conference, too.

I hope the Pacific alums are making themselves heard, both vocally and financially.

Just saw this press release on the Pios' website:

I think it's a good sign that L&C is looking to fill both slots and keep their ten game season.

Where is everybody?

Since it's that time of year, Cole Bixenman hit two homers in a game last weekend.

Gig Harbor Cat

Hey, Coco  I'm around, just busy with our baseball season up here.  Saw the Cats when they played at UPS a couple of weeks ago.  Got to visit with Carney for awhile pre-game.   The Cats look pretty good,  I think they will make another run this year if they come through the Fox series OK.

Keep the boys in line down there  OK !!  I will see you in the fall.

Admittedly not Division III news, but an encouraging development for small college football in the Northwest: Simon Fraser is applying for NCAA D-II status.

Hopefully, this means the lifting of the GNAC's death sentence.

BearcatPress...thanks for the info. Linfield used to play Simon Fraser back in the 80/90's I think. They always had some pretty good athletes and it was always a struggle to get past them. I don't think we ever lost to them but they were decent. It would be good for them to get in NCAA DII because that would be a game opportunity for NWC teams to fill in some open dates if they were willing to play NWC teams to fill in their gaps.

That was great, 11. You can't help smiling watching those highlights and seeing the up-close shots of the players. It's such a different perspective from what we see in the stands. And there's nothing like defense scoring, especially a freshman!

Thanks again for all the work you put into these.

Nice video Wildcat11. I liked the pep talk Smith gave at the beginning. That was a great game to watch.

See if they sell any of these in the CUA bookstore:
