Thanks, Wildcat11, appreciate it.

One Van Gundy played at Brockport State and the other at Nazareth. My brain is too friend to remember which at the moment. :)

Yes, your brain is too friend to remember.  My brain was friend once too.  Man, it was tough to think at that point.    ;) :D

Wildcat11 and Catdomealumni.com's blog (ADvantage Catdome) have a real treat for everyone today.  I just posted up our latest Red and Purple Interview and our subject is D3football.com's very own Pat Coleman.  Great read on some of the site's backstory and you'll get PC's view and thoughs on various topics.

ADvantage Catdome: Red and Purple Interview: D3Sports.com's Pat Coleman

Nice work! Pretty neat to hear about the history of the site. Pat, thanks for all the hard work.

Las Vegas Wildcards

Just picked up The Sporting News(formerly Street & Smiths) College Football Preview issue, I believe it's the only remaining publication that covers all levels of the college game, even jucos.

In their top 25 picks, the only western school selected was Redlands at #22. Cal Lutheran, Linfield, and PLU were in the "others to watch" section. Anyone surprised at the exclusion of Willamette and Whitworth here? No western players were picked on the preseason All-America team, either.

Willamette not in the top 25? That doesn't make any sense. "Teams to Watch"...what a joke....that is basically all the teams in DIII until they prove they can do something.

Hey, where's L&C?
It's hard to believe that such a stellar publication would have overlooked them when they were spot on with the others.

Yeah, polls are fun to talk about but really this doesn't matter and I don't pay it much attention.  The only poll that really matters is the D3.com poll that gets put out after the Stagg is played.

I agree with that to a certain extent Wildcat11 but don't forget the regional rankings that determine playoff seeding...that is pretty important for home field games in the playoffs.

WHAT ABOUT PACIFIC   ???

Do you think Pacific could have that beginner's luck thing going for them?

At the Rutschman luncheon today, Joe Smith brought up Pacific, and mentioned the possibility of George Fox and College of Idaho someday getting football.

You can believe College of Albertson's just took a giant step toward restarting their football program by hiring Marvin Henberg as president. His 15 years at LINFIELD certainly had to rub off on him.

DOC,
I agree.  I don't think he ever missed a football game during his tenure on campus.

My guess is when he has announced that College of Idaho will go thru the exploratory year in the NCAA.  Then he will approach the NWC to become the 10th member.  After gaining admission to the NWC, then he will announce the hiring of a coach the year before he wishes to to start a team.
