What airports would work the best for that Sept. 19 itinerary that you guys are talking about?

That's a good question.  GHC and WC11 need to start getting our plan together in terms of flying out of PDX.    Do we head to LAX, Burbank?????

WC11 is going to try his best to make all our games on the roadie (Oxy, SOU, Whitworth, Menlo).

Pat Coleman

On Southwest I'd have the option of BUR, LAX, ONT or SNA, for example.

Having made the trip south many times, you will find that LAX is the least expensive.  But for greatest convenience on that itinerary your best bet would be Ontario.

Pat Coleman

That one is double the price. :(

Yikes.  But I understand.  I've had to make the trip through LAX too for the same reason.  Just a longer day.  But also likely a lot more opportunities for getting in and out at the time you want.

Question, how exactly do Sea Otters make love . . . and why do you know?

Let's just say it involves a lot of wiggling in and out of the water... ::)

Ontario keeps you against the San Gabriel mtns where most SCIAC schools are / 210 Fwy.

I agree with this---  Ontario will dump you just east of all the SCIAC schools and it's a quick drive (like 10 minutes) to Pomona, LaVerne, Claremont.....then another say 30 minutes over to Oxy from most of those locations.  LAX will put you about 30-40 minutes (without traffic) away from Oxy and then east for everything else.  Burbank would be close and conveient to Oxy but still not that close to the rest of the SCIAC (other than Cal Lu).

Hope this helps.

LAX is about an hour from Claremont, while ONT is about 15 minutes away. However, if you're making a loop to watch all three games, on the return trip LAX is a bit closer to Oxy than ONT.

BUR is about 50 minutes from Claremont and only 15 minutes from Oxy. Straight shot there and back.

OK OK, it's on!

Yes....but, to get to LAX one would have to cross dntn LA or traverse the busiest fwy interchange in the 101 / 405, and then negotiate the Sepulveda pass. Your gps will tell you ONLY 4 MILES TO LAX once you get to UCLA but that is at 4 mph.
With Ontario one could use the Foothill Fwy (210) or the Christopher Columbus Intercontinental Hwy (10) to access the airport and on Sat eve or Sun AM (before 11 AM) it should be quite clear unless some guest drops a couch or a lawnmower in the #3 lane.

WRONG!

To get to LAX from Oxy take the 2 to the 5 to the 110 to the 105 and you're there.

OR

2 to the 5 to the 110 to the 10 exit La Cienega to La Tijera and you're there.

101 and 405 not in the equation.

Great conversation.

I am seriously thinking about this because I have what I consider to be an obnoxiously good fare to LAX from MSP. Thanks for bringing up this interesting confluence of games.

Was that messenger service via horse back?   ;D

D O.C.

No, the red arrows were carried on the rear end of the mules pulling the buckboard and used not for defense, but for message missives (much as OB's posts). I can just picture the reins in his mouth drawing back the catgut.

Dntn LA IS the Glendale Fwy (2) to the Harbor Fwy (110) past the Staples mausoleum and the 'round-'em-all-up-and-put-'em-in-the-Coliseum'.

All brought to you by Beverly Hills Hotel chauffeur DO.C. (and yes, you were trying to look in the tinted windows as I passed you O.B.)
