Count me in for the Oxy/Linfield game on 9/19. Redlands will be up at the Pine Bowl laying the wood to the Rats for the third straight year.

And by the way, OxyBob is right on his directions from LAX to Oxy. I travel from the South Bay to Pasadena everyday for work. The 105/110/5/2 dumps you right at the doorstep of Oxy. No need to even hit the 405.

MonroviaCat

Bottom line for Pat---any of the 3 airport options will work and if saving $ is the primary objective than take the LAX flight and just be prepared to spend more time on the road.  Perhaps the bigger question is:  what day/times would you arrive and depart?

Also, as somebody who commutes from Monrovia (east of Pasadena) to West L.A. 4 days a week---Bob's directions are correct for the LAX drive---but it's a crappy drive in traffic....

I liked it better when the freeways had names.  It was a long time ago but this looks like Imperial Blvd to the Harbor Freeway to the Santa Ana Freeway.  That was back when directions had some poetry to them.

Boys...do youself a favor and check out the latest vid on the ADvantage.  Montana Tech's head coach, Bob Green, drops some serious quotes.  It might be one of my favorite finds in a long time.

For what it's worth, and depending on the price differences . . . I would absolutely try to exercise the Burbank or Ontario options over LAX . . . and frankly, I think that Bubank would be the best option . . . it's a pretty easy shot to go from the Burbank airport to the 5 south, 134 east to 210 east to the Claremont colleges if you're traveling on Saturday morning . . . then back to Oxy . . . then back to Burbank.

I'd run a few google map options to see if my gut is right.

Pat, are you thinking of coming in on Fri out Sun, or in Sat out Sun, or in and out on Sat?

Might be able to get you a group rate at a Pasadena hotel if you'd like.  Let me know.

And, in fact, if there is a big group coming from up north and you'd like to find a local, discounted rate, let me know and I'll see what options I can come up with.

Tooth is absolutely right Burbank  then Ontario. I flew in and out of all of them for 4 years.
Now they would probably have to pay me to use LAX.
If you have to use it fly in early Saturday morning, avoid Friday afternoon or evening at all cost.

This bit of news just came across the ticker:

Aune to join Wolves broadcast team

----Former Oregon State play-by-play man Darrell Aune will describe the action for WOU home football and men's and women's basketball games in 2009-10. All Western Oregon football games will be carried by 1340 KLOO AM. Home football and basketball games will be available via free live video stream on WOU's website at www.wouwolves.com.

-----"I couldn't be happier joining Western's team," Aune said. "I have now achieved the elder broadcaster's dream—all home games and no travel."

----"It will be a pleasure to work with longtime friend and broadcaster Russ Blunck, athletic director Jon Carey and all of WOU's outstanding athletes and coaches," Aune stated. "I am used to wearing a red cap with a "W" on it from my Washington State days, so this will be a natural fit."

GHC you and 11 if coming in morning of 19th should take a look at Alaska (Horizon) and Ontario as it is very close to the first two games and and the easiest airport in So Cal to get in and out of.
(There I go with that IN N Out thing)   Cost from PDX usually same as John Wayne and Burbank.  Lax rate wise usually best but a bit more to navigate but none are difficult for the D3 educated.  ;D

My wife and I are planning to take a road trip from Arizona to the oxy game. Can't wait to meet up with all the Linfield posters at the game.
When we lived in L. A. we would eat at the Tommy's located on Roscoe Blvd. Best burger with chili in the city.
