Blue,

Anderson did have 25 carries vs Linfield last year but the Rats zone attack is just a bad match up against Linfield's defense and the 'Cats have really limited Anderson the past two seasons.  With the defense the 'Cats are bring back I would expect Linfield to be strong vs the zone once again.

Maybe that's what I noticed was the zone thing Wildcat11. No...that won't work against Linfeld. It's too simple. With no deception.....you have to have a really good line and great athletes to get by with that. We can stop them cold.

Enjoyed the UniWatch blog entry, 11.  Of course, I'd have flipped Willamette and Linfield in my own rankings. ;)  Personally, I like Willamette's all-red look better than the white or gold (RARELY worn) pants.  It helps to have the gold stripe.  FWIW, our unis are unchanged since 2005.

One other notable that I've been meaning to post but haven't was a great by the Portland Tribune on Willamette football/basketball recruit Terrell Malley.  Roosevelt is in a tough neighborhood, and regardless of who you root for, you have to like this kind of story.

(Of course, I should also point out that he had two interceptions in the Schwab Bowl . . . )

Great point about being unchanged since 2005...been around for awhile now and it seemed that for a period of time they changed their uni just about every year.  However, your bias is screaming through if you are saying that Willamette's home unis are the best.  Good uni (way too much red) but are a solid step down from PLU and Linfield.

I agree with WC11 about the Bearcats, I prefer their 2000 uniform, I believe it was a red jersey/white pant and white jersey/red pant combo. It didn't have those meaningless lines which have become popular lately among football uniforms. As far as PLU is concerned, I have a crazy idea. How about PLU switching to a gold jersey for an all-gold look on occasion? I'd like to hear from PLU fans on this board, this could be called the "afterglow" uniform.

So NWCer, do you have any inside information on who will be named head coach? I would think it would be someone with NWC ties, and relatively young, because of all the work ahead. Has anyone heard anything they can share?

I've heard nothing Steel Curtain....  I think I'm going to head down to the press conference though....   Hopefully it will get decent coverage and be good for Pacific, the NWC, and DIII....

Welcome to the football board.  Stick around this season even if your guys aren't starting up for a year yet.

When I played we had black and white with a little gold and white with black numbers and a little gold.  Only one set of pants, white with a large gold stripe flanked by two small black ones if I remember correctly.  People said black and gold but I always thougt it was more yellow than gold.  Frosty pulled a little trickery before the game in Whitworth in '83 and we came on the field with solid gold (yellow) jerseys, we then used those jerseys for our playoff run to the championship that year.  I've only seen one game in person in the past 25 years but going from photos I like the gold helmets.  I guess we didn't have those when I played cause they couldn't get the gold color to stick to the leather. ;D

Welcome, NWCer!

I had a sneaking suspicion that Coach Fowles would be up for this job.  While selfishly I hope he stays in Salem, if he does go to the Boxers I have no doubt he'll do just fine.  Personally, I think Lupfer would be a GREAT hire.  PSU under Walsh was always solid defensively, and the players there loved him.

Fowles would be a very good hire.  Knows DIII, the NWC, and the recruiting grounds.  I'll be tuning in to hear.  I think this pretty much means we'll be seeing Pacific on the field by next season.

I have found out this morning that both Lupfer and Fowles got interviewed, I hear they brought like 4 or 5 candidates to campus.  I know nothing about Lupfer or Fowles but it sounds like from the board that they are solid guys, so whether it's them or another candidate, looks like Pacific Football will be getting a good coach.

Wow--the Baseball trade deadline and Pacific announcing their new coach all in the same day----too much excitement for me!
