He'd probably rather have 5 or 6 pounds of noodles, gau gee, and mac salad, and wash it down with a gallon of guava juice.

coco....I'm not familiar with gau gee...could you inform us as to what that is? On the mac salad front....have you ever eaten at NoHo's in Portland? I'm sure you probably have since it's one of the best Hawaii places in town....I love their mac salad and their Grilled Spicey Korean Chicken...do you or Mrs. coco have a recipe that is similar to their mac salad? It's real basic but it has something , a spice or seasoning that makes it sooooo good!

Blue,

I've eaten at Noho's, but it's been a few years. I like to make my own mac salad and the main ingredient for good Hawaiian mac salad is plenty of high-fat mayo.

Gau gee are made with won ton wrappers. You put a meat (not Spam) filling in them, seal the edges and either steam, boil, or deep fry them. Deep frying is best, of course, since it's the least healthy. They look like little pillows. I've never seen them at a restaurant on the Mainland, but all Chinese restaurants in Hawaii serve them, normally over noodles and vegetables. Order crisp gau gee mein and you won't be disappointed.

Spam is the state meat of Hawaii, but we don't have it at every meal.

Just found this in the Statesman Journal today:

QuoteWillamette Football: The annual Cardinal & Gold scrimmage is Friday from 4-5:30 p.m. at McCulloch Stadium.

BearcatFan, FightBearcats, are either of you planning to head out to this?

There was a nice turnout (including Pelton, who hung out with the defense).  Whitcomb was wearing a brace, but he looked okay.  Woo version 2.0 had a couple of nice runs.  That was about all we saw from the first teamers on offense.  Defensively no real stars, although B. Lemon had one absolutely bone-jarring hit.  Among the backups, all I can say is that the NWC better watch out for Terrell Malley in a year or two.  The kid has serious potential.

The Lemon's move still rubs me weird. But, congradz to Willamette for getting them.

Don't know but I know that both Willamette and Linfield are going to have their work cut out when they head to Ashland.  SOU is going to be VERY physical.

FightBearcats

Thanks, Bearcat Press, for the report.  I wasn't able to get to the scrimmage so appreciate the report.  I hope Whitcomb holds up.  Mrs. FightBearcats and I hosted a group of WU freshmen for a gettogether as part of their orientation tonight.  Two of them are football players.  Nice kids.  Pretty excited about the season.  Time will tell, of course.  From what I've seen at several of the other practices the Bearcats should do well.

My only real question is in regards to hsu fans traveling to the Mac town. Are any of them going to go shirtless and bang on steel drums throughout the entire game, a la abilene?
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

One week to go and only 3 people have made their initial predictions on the NWC Pick 'ems. It isn't much fun with only three. Come on folks, click on NWC Pick 'ems and join the fun.

I only watch some of the game so I couldn't get a real good idea of how they look overall. Plus it's hard to tell if EOU is any good or not. EOU usually puts together a pretty decent club. SOU had a running back that went for about 200 yards so he must be a hard runner/workhorse.
