Why does Linfield always start games the second week?

[just kidding] So that they only have to play a nine game schedule and therefore only need five wins to preserve the streak.[/just kidding]

So says the guy covering the program that has been unable to pull off 5 wins or more 4 out of 9 times this decade alone.    It's way harder than Linfield has made it seem.

That's right, only three times in the entire history of The Streak, has Linfield won only five games. Since the streak began in 1956, that's a remarkable statistic. The  idea that Linfield has been skating by with five win seasons over the decades is 
one of the myths about this record. It's like saying Joe DiMaggio had many fluke hits enroute to his 56 game hitting streak.

My only real question is in regards to hsu fans traveling to the Mac town. Are any of them going to go shirtless and bang on steel drums throughout the entire game, a la abilene?

I wish we could return the favor. So much for the ncaa rule concerning artificial noise makers. My son said they could not hear the calls even in the huddle.

I seem to mention this every time someone on this board talks about it, but I'll repeat:

That rule is for NCAA playoff games. Otherwise, it's up to the conferences how they want to legislate that during a football game.

I do not believe I missed what personalities are going to be calling the LINFIELD games this year.......did I?

If you are going to (try) catch some of the 3 DIII games along the 210 Fwy. on Saturday the 19th, will you give a shout out here. One of the bar hopping buses is not on the horizon but maybe we can rendezvous.  I'm going to try.

11: Time to kick it into High Gear.  The 'Cats need to step it up this year.  Way too much acceptance of mediocrity these last few years.  Playoffs or Bust for Joe Smith!!  Spending Nov/Dec at home watching the playoffs can NOT be OKAY in McMinnville.
