Heat is good. You know why it's going to be hot, NORCAL PPJ and Mrs.PPJ are bringing the heat. It's been 104, so lets share it with everyone else. And the California boys play good in the heat. More the better.

The miss's and I can't wait to see everyone. I feel the Rocktman will get revenge on the Cowboys for ending his season early.

Coco:

Who does Linfield open with next year?  Mrs. Warthog is retiring and doesn't want to be in Iowa when school starts.  We thought attending the Linfield home opener would be a good idea to keep her mind off school.

Phone it in.  Send this year's NWC championship trophy and the NCAA playoff bid to the Wildcats.  Thanksgiving will be held in McMinville Oregon or Waverly Iowa this November.   8)

Coco,

I believe it will be either Cal Lutheran or LaVerne....could be SOU.  Not sure yet.

Regards to weather, the forecast has dropped down to a high of 96...it should be around 85/86 at kickoff and will get warmer as the game goes along.  Really don't think it will be a big deal and in fact I'm really happy it will be hot than the rain we had last weekend.

Believe me, California boys play better in the heat than the cold. From the Los Angeles Times, December 3, 1985:

After 71-0 Loss, Occidental Can't Get Out of Iowa

What's worse than losing 71-0?

How about losing 71-0, then being snowbound in Iowa. That's the lost weekend the Occidental College football team could talk about after finally escaping late Monday.

The Division III quarterfinal, at Central College of Pella, Iowa, was played on a frozen field in a steady snowfall, an average temperature of 15 degrees and 25-m.p.h. winds, conditions that Occidental was ill-equipped to handle. The Tigers didn't have the proper shoes for a frozen field and their running game, the basis of their attack, finished with a net of one yard.

The Tigers fell behind so quickly that they were forced to throw in the snow, which led to five interceptions and five fumbles. If Central hadn't missed six extra points it would have been 77-0.

Then after the massacre, the Tigers couldn't get out of Iowa.
...

Widolff, who finally made airline arrangements Monday despite a foot of new snow in Des Moines, said he wasn't sure how big a factor the weather played in the game. "We had a lot of trouble with traction. We didn't have proper shoes for a frozen field. We finally switched to tennis shoes, but it was too late," he said. "Basically we fell behind and that forced us to throw. Under those conditions, they got some turnovers."

The game was played at Central because of "revenue potential," but Widolff said the game was virtually without spectators. Central has generally played its playoffs at home despite the wintry weather. "We don't understand it either," Widolff said. "You'd have to ask the NCAA why."

Thanks to the missed extra kicks, the loss did not represent the largest margin of defeat in Occidental history. The Tigers lost a 1904 game, 78-6.
...

"Widolff said the game was virtually without spectators"

I was one of them. Full feeling in my fingers and toes returned on December 3, 2005.

OxyBob,

Not sure which year it was, 2004 or 2005 when your boys came
up north to the frozen tundra of the N.W.
The Temp was like in the 50"s and on the Oxy sidelines were
big fan heaters.  04'  the score was 56-27 and 05' 63-21.
I'm not sure if you were at either of those games, but the heaters
have been a topic we love to remember.
Good luck to all the West Coast teams this week.

Thank God Football is back,
GO WILDCATS!
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

IMHO
Hardin Simmons University tomorrow is a playoff game.
Playoff games have been missing for three, count 'em, 3, years.
This is a tough team coming into Mac with playoff tools themselves.
This is serious.
Win the NWC outright and leave no doubt, but any of this three-way tie tomfoolery and this game matters in the playoff scenario.
That is why we scheduled HSU and Occidental.
Let's do it!

I was at both games, but all I remember is Brett Elliott to George Carter, and Brett Elliott to Casey Allen, over and over and over.

Coach Smith after an 0-2 start to the 2009 season:

"The Butcher is not walking through that door, fans. George Carter is not walking through that door, and Casey Allen is not walking through that door. And if you expect them to walk through that door, they're going to be gray and old. What we are is young, exciting, hard-working, and we're going to improve. People don't realize that, and as soon as they realize those three guys are not coming through that door, the better this town will be for all of us because there are young guys in that (locker) room playing their asses off. "
