"Well, good to see that Linfield is back. ::)

(You were never gone.)

....  I am worried about the penalties.  Two straight games of over 100 yards is not good. . . ."

BCP--seems like the Plague Doctor worked.   ;)  Only 2 Bearcat fumbles, but none lost (instead of 5 fumbles and 3 lost with the Cobbers)....    :)

What's the story on the multiple offside/illegal procedure penalties in the 4th quarter?  The broadcast reported that Coach Speckman was complaining that the Cobbers Kingsmen were mimicking the Bearcat QB and drawing the Bearcats offside.

Congrats to the Wildcats for an impressive start.  Good luck at Oxy.

Fixed yer post.

After talking with Speckman this morning I can confirm that was what was happening.  According to Speck, CLU was mimicking our snap count, causing the three false start penalties in two plays.  He was still really mad about it this morning, and he doesn't usually get that angry at officials.

Still . . . 10 penalties for 100 yards isn't good by any stretch of the imagination.  We now have 205 yards of penalties in two games.  Let's keep the plague doctor on staff (he's done a great job so far) but bring in a specialist to treat this disease before SOU. :)

continue at a touristy 30 mph through Old Town Pasadena which was really was an old town with real artsy types until the Gap moved in

If you define "real artsy types" as a neighborhood of blighted, decrepit buildings, pawn shops, massage parlors, porno bookstores, and seedy bars, then, yeah, it was real artsy.

Is there a Tommy's near OXY?

It's on Colorado Blvd., about 5 minutes from campus. However, if you're looking for a great hamburger, The Oinkster, which is on the same side of the street, is highly recommended.

Well, if you would have just looked up from your browsing for coins on the sidewalk a few times you would have seen lights on upstairs in what were called 'lofts.'   8)

At the risk of gloating this is about the "whoppin'."

I am glad to be corrected here.....

-the field runs east-west;you'll be facing south and probably sitting on the west end of the grandstand;

Minor correction to Dens' otherwise stellar and informative post . . . the field orientation is much closer to North South . . . (slight off) . . . visitors sit on the north end . . . when seated, the view is west (again, just slightly off).

Here's a campus map:

safe travels, looking forward to a good game . . .

What's the low-down on coming to the game (parking, tickets, etc.)?  Do we need to be there early to get a cold piece of concrete or is there usually space?

Carpooling is the deal. Limited space. A couple years ago I parked on campus on a hilly road next to the gym but they've stopped that.
Sidewalk parking in the lowly lit neighborhood within 3 blocks of the stadium has always worked since then. TV's blaring, front doors open kind of suburban college neighborhood. Nearest convenience stores out on Eagle Rock Blvd. are a different situation.

Do not be surprised by the signs to the Keck Library just like LINFIELD.

Tickets not an issue, parking is an issue if you want to tailgate.

Look at the map linked in the earlier post, find "Bell Field" (no. 103) to it's left is a little triangular area that is noted as "Patterson Field, Rush Gym parking" (see the line drawn to the explanation box) . . . that is the area (western most) that is cordoned off for "tailgating" . . . if you want a space in there, early arrival is absolutely key . . . not sure how early, I'll see if I can garner any intel and will post back, remind me if you don't see anything by mid day Wed.

grouchygramps

One member of this team I am very close to. I have been watching him play football since he was 9 yrs old. This is a young man who loves the game of football, and has the heart. Three years ago when he was senior in High School, he was instrumental in leading his team to a perfect 11 and 0 record, and going to the section playoffs where they lost 7 to 0. He personally took it on himself to make sure every member of the team showed up at the weight room every morning to get in shape. They called him the workhorse during the game because when a few yards were needed he would get the call. He ran for a total of 1,950 yards that season and was named MVP. That same yr he played in the Lions Senior All Star game, and was named MVP. He loves Linfield College, and if given  the chance He will make a difference. I am looking forward to Linfield having a great year and making the playoffs. To you number 28, give it your all. Good luck.

Thanks for the fix, 'press.  How does Coach Speckman view the QB and flanker situations heading into SOU?  Anyone have the inside track?
