QuoteThe honorary 10th spot goes to the D-III Wildcats. Go ahead, name another team that has gone on the road each week of the season and beaten a ranked team in all of them? You can't, I know. Linfield has beaten No. 4 Hardin-Simmons and the Tigers so far in '09.

Nice, except Linfield played Hardin-Simmons at home, right?

Picky, picky, picky. At least they spelled our name right.
They must have been looking ahead to our road trips.

It would be great seeing Boise State playing for the national title in D1, I believe Linfield beat the Broncos in the first and only meeting between the two schools back in the late 1960s.

Oxy Bob told me Occidental in 1895 beat USC 10-0 :)

Oxy Bob is correct, the Tigers owned the Trojans in the 1900s, too.

Lever Street

You can't get to CatDome without seeing Lever Street.   Go Linfield!

Las Vegas Wildcards

This upcoming game for Linfield should be another difficult test. Southern Oregon is 1-2, but they played Willamette tough last week. The Raiders have a talented RB, Brandon Baldwin, who ran wild against the BearCats last week. Baldwin has had big games in two of the three games played, only Portland State neutralized him.
It should be important for Linfield to take control early, and force SOU into more passing situations. An early lead would also help reduce Southern's home field advantage.  I think the Raiders will use ball control featuring Baldwin, and try to wear down Linfield late in the game.
I remember some of the rowdy SOU fans from my trips to Ashland in 2001 and 2003, so it should be a packed house for this game. It would be great for the Wildcats to leave Ashland 3-0, with the NWC slate of games upcoming.
That's my opinion from Michigan, the folks here are still in shock over Central Michigan's win over Michigan State.

There's no way they can wear us down late in the game. We will be wearing them down.  ;D

And I hope we pull out all the stops on offense...Unlike the 1st half of the Oxy Game!  :o

The attention is nice, but, come on, let's be factual.

It's a tip of the cap and I appreciate the writer giving a DIII a little run (especially since it was Linfield).  It's better than a MSM writer running Mount into the ground for pounding another team.

Bearcat Press, you may want to pass this on to the coach, could be Willamette's next kicker. :)

Agreed, isn't everyone tired of those D1 stories about Lane Kiffin versus Urban Meyer? It's always good when the big media covers non-D1 football.
