I'd like to hear about the monkey on his back and his movie career.

Don't even get me started on the hollywood secrets that denS holds buried in his brain. A treasure trove of material lurks....
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

BTW, why do you suppose you cannot pick up internet TV feeds in Hawaii? You can post here easily. Computer speed? I've been to libraries to watch games before  :)

I can catch CatEye View without any problems, but for some reason I couldn't catch last weeks game, it said "not valid in current state." Oh well, I'm happy I'll be able to watch the last few home games.

Depending on my workload, I'm hoping to make it to the Willamette game.

Clarification: Dens is referring to a moniker I started with on d3 boards, DenSLA.  I lived in Los Angeles. Changing my handle had nothing to do with the 10 day board suspension handed to me when I proved to be a tad too LINFIELDcentric in 2005.  I simply moved to Orange County and shortened to DO.C, DenSOrangeCounty. DenSOC did not seem like a good idea because it is so easily twisted to S*cks. DenS had already been maligned as Dense, which caused me to chuckle when I DID understand the modus operandi of d3football.com.

I do see your point, Blue.

Thanks for the info BearcatPress. Let's just say I think it's interesting that a coach would be going for it on 4th downs in the second half of a blowout game when you're up by 30+ points.

Occidental needs to do something, too. That plain black helmet is boring.

Here's a YouTube video of Oxy vs. Colorado A&M (now Colorado State), circa 1949, in which Oxy can be seen wearing all-orange uniforms with black helmets.

Oxy was 9-0 that season, including the 21-20 win over Colorado A&M.

Great stuff, sideline film from that era was rare, I love the old clips. Oxy needs to add more orange to their current uniforms, do all Oxy sports teams minimize the orange color in their uniforms?

Willamette actually had a similar play last year up in the Pine Bowl.  The Bearcats scored a touchdown, but Rowan's PAT was blocked before crossing the line.  As Whitworth trotted off the field, Grant Leslie picked up the ball and ran untouched into the end zone for two.  It was well-officiated too - the refs never blew their whistles until Leslie scored.

Interesting. I'm not suggesting Oxy football should make orange the primary color, but something should be done. Maybe orange stripes on the pants, and put your logo on the helmet, or a big orange "O". How does Oxy stand in regards to playoff positioning?

Thanks for the link to the great articles on Whitman Football.  Interestingly enough the President at Whitman when football was dropped, Robert Skotheim, was the interim president at Oxy last year.  Luckily, our team survived.

I also thought this was interesting:

Quote
Sig Hansen of the class of '57 remembers playing as a linebacker against the man who would later become a National Football League wide receiver, R.C. Owens.

"I was playing linebacker, and he was playing fullback."

Pretty rare to see a college fullback become a pro wide reciever!  At least nowadays.  Can anyone think of any NFL players who did something similar recently?  I certainly can't...

If Oxy wins out, they get the AQ.  Cal-Lu can also win out and get the AQ.  If the latter happens, Oxy probably doesn't stand much chance of getting a pool C bid; some 8-1 SCIAC teams have recently been unable to get an at-large, so a 7-2 Oxy team (with the additional Linfield loss) would probably be left out.

If Cal-Lu beats Oxy and then loses to Redlands, all three teams are 5-1 in conference play and tie for the championship.  The "Rose Bowl Rule" applies and Cal-Lu goes to the playoffs because they have the longest playoff drought.  Oxy might have a chance at a pool C bid here at 8-1 with the win over Redlands and close loss to Linfield.

The only other scenario I can think of is if Cal-Lu beats Oxy but loses to 2 other teams (highly unlikely).  That would leave Oxy and Redlands tied at 5-1, and Oxy would go on the head-to-head tiebreaker.

*Phew* OK I think that's about it...

Under that scenario, Oxy would be 7-2, not 8-1.
