Catdomealumni.com's ADvantage Catdome has just posted up our Linfield/Willamette Game Preview.
As usual, outstanding analysis by 11.  These points are something I really enjoy reading about since none of this stuff is readily available unless you're "On the Team".

Soooo many things for the lads to pay attention to....Soooo many distractions to avoid.
FUNDAMENTALS, FOCUS, 60 MINUTES...PAYDIRT!
Rock the Catdome South...and I'll see you there!

How many times will we here: "ANOTHER BEARCAT FIRSTDOWN!" :D

Aw jeez, I get really tired of hearing that. I'm hoping we won't have to listen to it much on Saturday.

Nice write-up about Millenbach, 11. I enjoy those. But Aviation Physics? Are you frickin' kidding me?? I guess the O linemen really are the smart ones.

But that Neverland scenario will not be in play so I volunteer to be the scout team Bscat poster this week.

Let me begin with We scored more on Lewis and Clark than you did!

:D

I like the idea of D O.C. wearing my red Willamette hoodie and carrying a notepad for the scout team.  I'm still here, just taking a little hiatus during a week I have four big papers due.  Fortunately, it coincides with Linfield week, when I usually take a step back anyway.

While I'm here though, Saturday will see a bunch of alumni inducted into the Hall of Fame, including probably the best quarterback ever to wear a Willamette uniform:

Probably a good idea taking a "Hiatus" this week, Tim! I think I'll join you!

Thanks for the link to the Pinkerton article!

Offensive Linemen - Brains and Brawn
While offensive linemen need to be big and strong, they need some brains upstairs as well. A good offensive lineman has to memorize dozens of different offensive plays and drills and also needs to be intelligent enough to recognize the defense and react to their strategy and movements.

Offensive Linemen - All Guts, No Glory
While the offensive line is the foundation of a team's offense and one of the most important parts of a football team, an offensive linemen usually gets very little glory. Most of the big plays you see on football highlights
are of quarterbacks making big passes, receivers making spectacular catches or running backs weaving away from tackles for a big gain. The offensive lineman is often underrated and doesn't get a lot of credit because his position doesn't look that flashy or exciting.

+K to all the Linfield posters for having the stones to put it on the line before the game in making your picks/talking your smack.

11...Wildcats...Bearcats...we are all Cats...can't we just all get along...frankly it doesn't matter one bit to me whether Linfield wins or Willamette loses...either way we should all be happy  ;D

Well said... either way is fine! :D

Red and Purple,

Good job on displaying the qualities of an offensive lineman... hasn't changed in 50 years. Most O-Hogs weren't in it for glory as I remember, but the satisfaction of knocking someone on his ass or playing "root-hog."

CalCat,

What's with this we're all cats stuff. Geez, we're talking about Willamette! There's only one CAT and it resides in McMinnville.

I'll go back to lurkin'

New announcer this year.  You actually might miss our old guy after this game. :(  I know I do.

[rant]I really do wish we could get someone who would just say something like "____ takes the ball up the middle for ___ yards, tackled by ____.  Second down."  Leave the color commentary to the radio guys.[/rant]

This is awesome.  Makes me want to go on some dead thread and make a couple hundred posts so I have the ability to +K.  I would say we O-linemen have more on the fly adjustments to make than any other position, especially before the play, with the possible exception of the QB.  It also probably depends what team you play for; lower tier SCIAC and NWC teams' linemen just dive at defender's knees every play.

D O.C.

Lookit LuavilleCat! Smokin' the boards on his first try!

Tuxguy

+K for LuavilleCat.

Sorry that I've been alittle absent on the board guys but
"put me in coach" I'll try and do better!

I see a big "Fly" swatting day Saturday.  I'd mention some names
but I got my post wiped out last time I did that.   So, Lets just
Kick some BUTT and move on! ;D No need to worry about any anouncer....All were going to see is ..........bearcat punts, and
LINFIELD FIRST DOWNS AND SCORES!

GHC, Hope you've got "old blue" with you along with Mojo.  :)

GO WILDCATS!
ONE GAME AT A TIME!

Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Wow. He's worse than the old guy and does color? Terrific. Why can't Willamette get an announcer who just calls the game straightforward like our guy does, impartially and clearly?
They ought to have you do it, BCP. You could probably do a better job than this guy or the old guy. I'm serious.
