How unfortunate that the great Linfield Wildcats beat a team "that sucks worse than LC" by ONLY 3 points.  Sure wasn't the monkey stomping you got last year at home was it?  Linfield didn't beat WU, WU shot themselves in the foot many times over.   Might have a little to do with the increasing crutches section on the team.   That game could've gone either way & you all know it!  Enjoy the victory!

...and such a nicely textured overcoat!

QuoteSJU seems like to be the second team in the West.  While the Johnnies have had several close calls, they did play a tough nonconference slate and found success in taking down two WIAC teams.  This gives the Jays the narrow edge over Linfield, who has also survived several close calls but is hampered by fewer regional wins in comparison to SJU.  And the NWC is significantly hurt by Willamette's loss to Concordia-Moorhead.

River Falls (2,5) (0-4) and Eau Claire (3-4) (1-3)  ???
Surely , thou jest.
I count 4 close games that the better team won, you.
The LINFIELD - Occidental game was not close. It WAS on the road as was UWEC.

I like your term 'bands' like on a worm from "Dune."

LINFIELD was not ranked at the beginning of the season. You were and have not really lost that place. That's fair, sort of.

I would like to see Willamette get in and you have to play us the following week. That would put some grit in yer gums.

Anytime. Anywhere.

Greetings to a disgruntled Bearcat:

"Linfield didn't beat WU, WU shot themselves in the foot many times over."

Never did WU control the game, or the score, hence does the spoils of victory belong to LINFIELD. Perhaps you "suck," as one should in "sucking it up" after a loss. The game was played... accept the fact your team was defeated, was beaten, was run over by a better team... the LINFIELD COLLEGE WILDCATS!

Good reading once agian. Sounds like the bearcats are looking for any way possible, which is good. If you love the game you won't quit. Good luck, hope you find a way.

As for the Wildcats. Just keep focused and things will work out. Have no doudt and leave nothing on the table. Thats Football at its finest. Can't wait for November 21st.

As someone who blogs I'm not going to take umbrage with the JF.com breakdown because I understand being a honk for your football program but I usually stick to what I know and don't venture in those topics (Division IV, playoff seeding, etc).  I leave that topic to D-Train and Gray Fox to break down on these boards and the D3football crew for the big view on the main page.

It's really too early to discuss all this...but this week's regional rankings (which 'JohnnieEsq' takes a somewhat biased guess at) will be of keen interest to Linfield fans. The rankings preview possible playoff seeding, which I think could be very important in the stacked West.  [I know you still have 2 games, but...] An undefeated Linfield team could be anywhere from 1st (with a UWW move) to 3rd/4th in the region.  That might not sound like a big deal, but imagine the difference between 3 home playoff games before the semifinals versus traveling to Iowa, Minn., or Wisc. each week as early as round 2.  Scheduling that Oxy game in place of WOU looks brilliant right now.  The guru (Pat) has since crunched the SOS numbers and likes Linfield (as a #1) a bit more than he let on during the podcast.

Not disgruntled, maybe disappointed.   There have been multiple references on this board recently to the idea that "WU sucks" by Linfield fans.  I'm just trying to point out that if you use Logic, you'll understand that you'd better beat a team that you maintain "Sucks" by MORE than 3 points!  That's my point.  Nothing more, nothing less.   Otherwise, by the rules of Logic, you're not that great either!!  So, either admit that WU is a worthy opponent that you defeated --- or that Linfield is a mediocre team that wins over teams like WU & L&C "that suck."  You just don't get to have it both ways!!  And all I can do as a Bearcat fan is concede that your team won on Saturday.  They did not run over, beat or whatever verbs you want to use.  They won by a very small margin.  A good football game played by two very fine teams with a less than desirable outcome (from my perspective).

From Linfield's own SID,  Kelly Bird on the Linfield athletic site, "The Wildcats never trailed in the game, yet had to fight for all 60 minutes to put the game away. The yardage totals for each team were nearly dead even, with Linfield leading the final tally 422-411. But the Wildcats forced two Willamette turnovers while refusing to yield a single turnover themselves."
So, apparently he watched the same game I did.

BTW--the Linfield QB rocks.  He made a lot of things happen on Saturday and without his speed and quick thinking . . . ;)

I notice there are no UPS supporters on the Boards...not surprising, I guess.

It's not so much that the Loggers have no offense - they had over 400 yards vs. PLU, dominated the first half, and were shut out at the 1 twice. But they have not done well in the Red Zone all year, and their turnover ratio in the past 4 games in 16 (UPS) to 2 (OPP). So the defense is on the field so much that they wear down and often give up points late.

The Loggers do have some talent - their linebackers and safeties have played well all year, and their running game has improved. But, obviously, they are struggling, and the next 2 games against perennial powers appear daunting.

I hope the NWC gets 2 reps to the football playoffs this year. Last year's baseball situation, with George Fox the only NWC rep among 3 top twenty five conference teams, was my first exposure to the way the tourney works against the NWC.

Welcome, idalogger.
I hope you stick around.
