If Southern Oregon is successful in moving to D2, Would Linfield consider replacing the Raiders on future schedules with NAIA Eastern Oregon? Do schools like Mount Union, Wisconsin Whitewater, and St. Johns ever play D2 teams?

I can't go into the details as I'll wait for Wildcat11 to make these type of announcements on this board....but I have heard that Linfield has a nice DIII schedule in store for next season. The schedule has been announced in an unofficial manner at this point from what I have been told and I can't go into details.   :-X

Yeah, that's for Linfield Sports to release but there are more changes for next season....but we'll worry about that in the off season.

Never in the history of THE STREAK has Linfield and mediocre team been used in the same sentence!

The margin of victory is frivolous unless one is playing with hand grenades. A win is a win. You concentrate on preparing for a bye, we'll concentrate on UPS. Good luck!

QuoteNever in the history of THE STREAK has Linfield and mediocre team been used in the same sentence!

(From Google) Mediocre: Lacking exceptional ability, average in quality.

You can have a winning season and still be mediocre.  While there is certainly nothing mediocre about Linfield Football as a whole or the history of the team since the streak began, that doesn't mean some teams weren't mediocre.  I don't really want to get into arguing over which teams were *Cough* 2007 *Cough*, just sayin'.

Quoteyou had guys like Ellis and Tawata knocking guys out of the game on kick-offs.

Word.  I was still a Senior in High School in '04, I but certainly heard about that kickoff team in the following years.  When you asked the returners in 05, 06, and 07 about the '04 playoff game against Linfield, the first thing they talked about wasn't Elliott or Allen.  It was how many guys got concussions on the first 2 kickoffs.  This is guys from a team that won 2 playoff games saying this too.  Talk about intimidation and setting the tone for the rest of the game.

QuoteMr. Nihon, we can talk up how close that game was Saturday night.
Actually, since I live in Japan, we can't.  Didn't you ever wonder why half of my posts are at 4am Pacific Time?  Unfortunately my salary as an Assistant English Teacher won't allow me to fly back for the Oxy-CLU game.  Grainy video will have to do.

D O.C.

Nihon....Japan.... former posts...DER. My bad. If you can get the KDAY broadcast I will bow to the camera, not too low though   ;D

QuoteAgain, no disrepect to former, current or potentially future guys, but that team was ridonkulous, and not just the offense.

I like that descriptive adjective. The defense did become a playoff team themselves over 2003 - 2005. Homecoming fodder for decades about the BEST LINFIELD  team of all time. I cast my vote already and I'm going to be just as coy about it as Bluenote is about his inside information.

OK
Speaking of the kick off team.  Rowan rolls in and for all we know Anthony Soprano is at QB ( according to the E Coast posters)  Our kids are kicking their butts.  I remember #55 from Rowan in the wedge--BAM !!! he got hit so hard that he was walking in circles and then started walking towards the Cat student section in a total daze.  A teammate had to escort him to the bench.
that bunch of ours ran through people It was another awesome day to be a Cat backer !!

I remember that. I was on Rowans sideline shooting video. Rowan came out talking so much crap. Rowan was in shock during that game. The "Beast of the East" came out West and got monkey stomped. I still think that was one of the best defense performances from Linfield I've seen.  The OXY game was the same way. They shut their mouths really fast.

BC Press--  this doesn't happen often  in fact this is a first but +K from me on the Phone it in !!

Listen your boys played their ass off,  the game itself was a real chess match  both coaching staffs adjusting and the adjusting again and again.  I told you before that I met your head coach at a coaching clinic in San francisco.  He is one sharp man.  As a coach I always enjoy the game within the game.

Peace Out

Welcome, idalogger.  Nice to hear from a UPS supporter.  There have been a few others in previous years (and more Whitworth guys as well).

Thanks for the welcome, d-train, coco, monroviacat.

I am an Idaho grad (go vandals), from Boise. I'll be around for a couple of years, as my boy is a soph at UPS. D3 was, frankly, a revelation for us, as he was a good high school player, but not a D1 prospect. The Boise Valley has some good players, notably seven on BSU's roster this year, and several at Idaho. However, when he was recruited by several D3 schools, we came to visit every NWC school, and a few others. He chose UPS for the campus and because he knew several kids. As far as I know, there are only a few kids from the area playing in the conference, one at Linfield, another at Willamette, two at UPS , and one or two at Whitworth. But several coaches and administrators from Boise played in the NWC (Simis at Willamette, Walker, Pierce, and others at PLU) and they spoke highly of the quality of sports in the conference.

I had no idea of the passion for sports in the area, or of the dimensions of D3 across the country. Since he plays baseball, too, I have had a chance to see the high level of play in both sports, and have become an advocate for the NWC in the Boise area. I can't make it over for the Linfield game, but I hope the Loggers play hard and make it a game. I'll be up for Willamette and LC.

Again, thanks for the welcome. Go Loggers!
