DutchHawk,
Agreed, it will be interesting especially after todays Cats game with the Lutes.

Like it or not these are my thoughts...Frosty Jr. is not the class act his father was.  With the game decided in the second quarter & going into halftime 41 - 7, the Cats decided to let second and third strings have some playing time.  Little Frosty keeps his starters on the field for the entire game and forgets about the players on the bench who need playing time.  No wonder the Lutes, for the second season in a row, go 3 & 6.  Does it mean that much to lose 62 to 44?  I guess next time it's 41 to 7 we keep our starters in and win 80+ - 14 or whatever it could be.  Just kidding, that 's not the way we teach our players at the Catdome.  Even the radio announcers were baffled at what was taking place.

Nice game today Cats!!  Way to win the Linfield way - with class.  Looking forward to playoffs next week.  Enjoy the NW Conference Championship picked 3rd, it is well deserved.

See you all next week!

GO WILDCATS!!
ONE GAME AT A TIME!
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Home from the Willamette - Menlo game. The Bearcats have a very good team. It is a shame they probably won't get to go to the dance. Schoettgen is a stud.

Lever Street

Just returned from Catdome.  Linfield O is tremendous.  Defense (1st string) also looked good.  Excellent first half for the CATS.  They are a well oiled machine heading into the playoffs.

Go Linfield!
You can't get to CatDome without seeing Lever Street.   Go Linfield!

Just got back from the CLU/Redlands game where CLU dominated the first half only to have Redlands make a game of it in the second half.  CLU definitely the better team with a dominating offensive line that protected the QB (Toilolo) giving him all kinds of time to throw to some good receivers especially #84 Rogers (freshmen).  CLU didn't run much against Redlands but when they mixed it in Stewart was effective.  Having seen every SCIAC team and every NWC except Willamette and PLU I really think CLU is underrated.  If it pans out CLU and Linfield from what I have seen it will come down to CLU offensive line vs. Linfield's Defensive line.  If you don't put pressure on the CLU QB he and his receiver's will move the ball.  Redlands put pressure on him the second half an it slowed CLU down.  I bet Redlands wishes they could have a do over 2nd half vs. Oxy and 1st half vs. CLU....they would find themselves undefeated.  Cats will have to bring their best against a CLU team that hung with Willamette in their first game if CLU goes North.

Congratulations to LINFIELD WILDCAT Coach Joe Smith.

Where is that voting site again?

Gotta look at a guy who took and unranked team to an undefeated season and 4th ranking in the country.

Tuxguy, you are so, so right.   After watching LC and PLU battle for the last 24 years, I have always had great respect for the Lutes.    No more.   Their coach was VERY disappointing today.

LC was ahead 48-7 after 2 minutes into the 3rd Qtr.    LC then inserted their 2nd and 3rd string the rest of the way.   PLU kept their first string offense in and scored 37 garbage points on LC's reserves.

"Thank you", PLU, that almost certainly guarantees LC will likely have only one home playoff game.    The NCAA will look at season final scores, not scores at halftime or the end of 3 quarters.

Agreed.   I was wrong about Coach Smith.   He has done a very good job of recruiting and coaching.    Yes, I still question some of the play-calling.    But, his record speaks for itself!

Job very well done, Coach!

I hope that's not the case, if so, that reminds me of Penn State in '94 I think, when they were blowing out Indiana, but IU scored a couple late meaningless scores which hurt PSU in the polls. That was the season Penn State and Nebraska finished unbeaten, but the Cornhuskers won the national title by defeating Miami in the Orange Bowl.
From what I understand, Pat Coleman picked Linfield as the number two seed in the West, assuming WWW is moved to the North. We'll find out tomorrow, of course. Whatever transpires, congrats to the Wildcats for a great season.

I think you may be over reacting on this point(the playoff implications not the way PLU kept the first string in against our 2nd and 3rd stringers).  Assuming Mt goes east WW goes North and St. Johns is #1 then either Linfield or Central should be #2.  Central didn't play this week and Linfield was ranked ahead of them again in Regional rankings this week.  The Cats still won convincingly even if you only look at the final score.  I don't seem them losing ground because of this game.  We'll see in about 17 hours
Go Cats!

I would agree with your thinking, MonCat...Linfield is going to stay ahead of Central. It wouldn't matter if the cats beat PLU 60-0, they weren't going to over take SJU unless the J's faltered, which they didn't. The experience your 2nd & 3rd teamers received today will pay dividends next year and the year after, whereas PLU will continue to suffer as a result of not giving all their guys an opportunity to play.  I wouldn't worry too much about it if I were a cat fan.

In my opinion, I believe that Linfield should get the number one seed in the West over the Johns if UWW is shipped out.  SJU had no less than four games that they only won by a TD or less....That shows that they can win tight games but does not equal dominance that I would think a #1 seed should demonstrate.

Ditto. I don't think they're all that strong this year.

CONGRATULATIONS NWC CHAMPIONS
LINFIELD WILDCATS!

The coaches have done a tremendous job with this special group of young men. The "Dream Team." I can't be any prouder.

I guess the only thing to do is to freeze my "you know what" off at the "Playoffs!!!" Maybe I'll get to meet some of you diehards on the 21st.

It's time for some respect....for the only conference to win two national championships from different schools in the last 10 years....

Congrats to the 2009 Champs.....The '09 Cats!

I must admit I was a skeptic as the season began looking at one of the toughest schedules in D3 and 4 straight long road trips.  The Cats proved me wrong and ran the table.  They are a good team, have proven themselves, and are truly a team rather than a few outstanding players.  They've proven they are 'road warriors' against strong teams.....I like their chances no matter what the selection committee does.  They are a proven group that can travel and win at home or on the road against talented opposition.

One game at a time and these Cats can bring home some more hardware to the Catdome.
