Proud Papa Joe

Way to go Wildcats ;D ;D ;D ;D 9-0. Great season. Glad the kid got some action today. Good to knock the cobbwebs off. Can't wait for next week. The Nor Cal Motorhome will roll into Linfield on Friday.

Island Cat. Look for the Flair Motorhome at the tailgate area. PPJ and Grotcheygramps will be there with our Lovely Wifes.

As for all you regulars, "it's party time".

Lets Get It On. :D :D :D :D

It didn't really bother me that PLU kept in their starters and tried to score more. If Linfield would have kept in their starters the score would have been like 87-14 so what difference does it make? I'm just glad a lot of Wildcats got to play in the game and get some game time experience.

Sounds like it was a great game at the CatDome today. Mrs OldCat and I have been on a "field trip" in Mexico for the last week. Couldn't find a working Internet today until now.

Has been a great breakout season for Coach Smith and his team of outstanding coaches. Congrats all-around.

Congrats to our fine young men for a great regular season...and the well-earned reward of the playoffs. Assume all die-hard Cat fans will be heading to the CatDome next week. I'll have to see if the missus has any traveling funds left in the cookie jar. Hope to see you all there.

Go Cats!!

Joe Smith is too smart to keep his starters in and run up the score. It would have looked good today, but wouldn't have have helped the team long-term, and there's always the risk of injuries. I don't know what Scott W's philosopny was.

L&C's win over UPS is great for L&C, but doesn't improve our SOS. At this point it probably doesn't have all that much effect, I hope.

coco.....maybe he was thinking that his starters are pretty young too and to give them more experience....the problem with that is that most of our starters are pretty young too...  ;D

Congratulations to the Wildcats.  Best of luck in your run in the playoffs.  I know you would like to feast on home cooking throughout the playoffs, but I kind of hope you play within driving distance of Warthog's house at least once.  Based on current rankings, I guess that means I hope UWW doesn't get sent North.

The NCAA will look at season final scores, not scores at halftime or the end of 3 quarters.

The NCAA won't look at scores at all, unless they were in competition with someone else who also played PLU.

Pat...it will be interesting to see how your projection compares to tomorrows official pairings. Your team has been pretty accurate in the past. I would like to see Linfield above Central because I think that may mean the possibility of 3 home playoff games, but just to be in the playoffs is exciting for us old timers.... :D

Congrats to the Wildcats! Great season, may it continue until we meet!

Congratulations to Linfield on a perfect regular season.  Really impressive with such a tough schedule to not have any letdowns.  Good to see Simon back in today PPJ, who needs medical redshirts when you've got a playoff run to make!  Should be a heck of a game against CLU.

What time is the selection show again?

I wasn't at the game so I don't know how much time they had on the field, but it appears 49 Lutes got in the game.  22 Lutes got tackle points.  8 received a pass.  Being the visiting team, that would seem they must have played almost everyone in uniform.

As the home team, Linfield showed 66 participating, 29 with tackle points, 12 with receiving catches, 6 with rushes.  I would assume Linfield had more standing on the sidelines than did PLU.

The obvious disparity is that PLU only had one player with passing statistics, while Linfield had three.

I'm flabbergasted.  I don't understand how one can equate playing your starters (even to the very end when you are down 20 or 40 or whatever), to poor sportsmanship.  I also don't see how playing the younger guys in that game would significantly affect the future talent of the team, especially since many of the guys playing will be returning.  If the game being "in hand" is the qualifier for when you pull your starters then the Cats first team should not even have stepped on the field against L&C, maybe not even on the bus to the game.  I've never heard of anyone complaining that the LOSING team kept their starters in the game.
All that being said, as I stated earlier, I'm pulling for the Cats in the Playoffs.  Not just because you are our conference champs but because of the respect your program has earned this year and over the years.

Here's hoping Linfield brings some hardware home.

I'll be on the board next week, see you then.

Only Linfield fans could find a way to accuse PLU (seriously, of all programs - PLU!) of lacking class. ::)

Oy vey.

Partially because I want to keep myself from watching the selection show, I'll be taking a day trip to the beach tomorrow with my girlfriend.  Congrats to the Wildcats on their conference title - you guys earned it with a lot of skill and a little bit of luck. ;)  Congrats to the Bearcats on finishing like you needed to and playing above your years.  Congrats to Whitworth for fighting through the injuries, to Menlo for ignoring the parents, to PLU for recovering from that brutal start.  Congrats to UPS for giving Linfield a huge scare.  And last but not least, congrats to L&C - welcome back to the winner's column. :)
