I was pretty disappointed with the student turn out yesterday at the Cat-Lute game. Sitting in the stands surrounded by all the recruits and their parents you can hear them commenting on the lack of students at the game.

Yes we have good support from alumni but does any one on campus really care that their football team is undefeated and going in to the playoffs?

Is the selection show at 12 eastern, thus already over?

Is it on ESPNEWS?

Congrats to the Cats, Wild n Bear! Congrats Pios.

WU, as much as I enjoyed beating you in football, I admired the job you guys did on the field this year. I would love seeing the Bearcats in the NCAAs playing in some distant land dismantling a disrespectful homey. L&C, it's meaningful to win the season finale because the memories are a building block throughout the off season. If success is measured by what one has overcome, you guys are winners!

As far as for our WILDCATS, 9-0 has a nice ring to it, but we're not finished - not by a long shot! My hat is off to Coach Smith, his staff, and all the players to become the team that shines in 09. It's your turn to walk in the garden and plant a tree. Continue the storied tradition but leave your own legacy. I'm sure I speak for all Linfield alums, we're d**m proud of you.

Wow George--such positive words....have you been drinking this morning?   ;)

I just call them as I see them.   This team has proven itself and will be very tough against anybody in the playoffs.   It also helps that we have had less injuries this year, outstanding depth at running back and stopped those game-killer turnovers of the last several years.

If we play turnover free in the playoffs, look out anyone we meet.

GO CATS! GO!

I don't get ESPNews.....I'm hoping there will be a YouTube link shortly after so we can watch it? I know the results will be known but I'd still like to see the presentation and what was said....

Blue,

I'll try to turn that around as fast as I can on the ADvantage.

Cat_fan_08,

You hit on my "ugly" from yesterday's game.  Pathetic effort by the student body.  The freaking stadium is within 200 yards from a huge bulk of the student body and Boehme could have fired 15 passes into the end zone bleachers at the beginning of the game and not hit a soul.  Has our student body really changed that much over the past few years?  I don't know what the issue is but the student body support sucks this season.

TDT,

Looking forward to the day when Gags Jr. takes over SJU football.

Good point, when the elder Gags eventually steps down, it will be interesting to see if SJU will be able to maintain their status as an elite program. There have been many teams which have fallen after a great coach moves on, college and pro. Assistants who were thought to be well suited to maintain the tradition, instead, failed, so time will tell for SJU. One of the unique aspects of Linfield, is the success maintained by several outstanding coaches since the 1950s.

Sad but true 11...
It's not LC students in particular.  In my opinion, there's a broader issue in our "ME" society that is not the fault of the youngins. Certainly, this is not fodder for this board.
I don't know the answers, but what WU did to get the students out was a payoff.
Anybody can do that (it's not real)  Thus...the what's in it for "ME" bit.
Your work did hit paydirt with the alums and my fellow die hards.  The grandstands at the dome were better attended.
For what it's worth there you go...
Now...let's play ball!

Did you ever consider that, when John retires, Jimmy will be too old to coach ;D

Steel,

I have no doubts that SJU will be able to maintain their status but they may have a few "adjustment" years when that day comes.  Football is very important at SJU and the University (a big piece in football success) will continue to support the program.

I just like to tease TDT because that fan base does not want Gags. Jr. to take over when the day comes.

Great featureof Linfield--Thanks Pat but should note  two corrections of things Pat said during the selection show:

1.  Jay Locey - Assistant Head Coach/Wide Recievers at OSU (not Offensive Coordinator--that would be Linfield Grad Danny Langsdorf).
2.  It's Aaron Boehme not Brian Boehme
