Rocketman is the NWC Offensive Player of the Year. Congrats Aaron we are proud of you!

But soooo much work to be done.

GO CATS!!!

I think there was no doubt about that.  Well deserved and I'm sure Aaron would be the first to share all the credit with his teammates.  Congrats!!!!

Just watched the show...thanks Wildcat11!

Does anyone know where the actual seeding 1-8 for each of the brackets is listed? It's not on the Bracket PDF and I just keep reading about seeding but have not seen the actual list for each region. There should also be a seeding of the 4 top #1 seeds..1 through 4.

Has our student body really changed that much over the past few years?  I don't know what the issue is but the student body support sucks this season.
Sad but true 11...
It's not LC students in particular.  In my opinion, there's a broader issue in our "ME" society that is not the fault of the youngins. Certainly, this is not fodder for this board.
I don't know the answers, but what WU did to get the students out was a payoff.
Anybody can do that (it's not real)  Thus...the what's in it for "ME" bit.
Your work did hit paydirt with the alums and my fellow die hards.  The grandstands at the dome were better attended.
For what it's worth there you go...
Now...let's play ball!

Best of luck to the Cats in the playoffs. I was hopng that Willamette would make it as well, but that opening loss proved quite costly.

As for the LC victory over UPS, to the much improved Pios in their first conference win since '03. Same old Loggers, wth 8 red zone possessions and 6 turnovers, including a fumble at the 9 that led to a 91 yard return when the Loggers were taking over the game. Ah well...0-9, but we have some talent that needs direction...we'll see what happens.

I believe that Frosty Jr. has abandoned the traditional recruiting strategy that Frosty used. He also appears to lack the coaching acumen to compete in the conference. Of course, they neat us by 3 td's.

Go Loggers!

R&P: The Linfield-PLU games only attracted 2296?

Good grief. Back in the heyday of Linfield-PLU games at Maxwell Field we had people standing 4 deep around the entire field with attendance about 4,000. Of course, those games usually decided the year's Conference Championship...if not the NAIA national championship. Fortunately, the Cat's seemed to win more than their share of those games.

I'll never forget one of Frosty's quotes after a particularly disappointing loss to the Cat's. "The PLU-Linfield game is always a real barnburner. Unfortunately, it's usually our barn that gets burned."

Frosty and Ad were two of the classiest coaches ever!!!

I agree with CalCat.  Good defense wins the game.  When Cal Lu played at WU, the offenses seemed pretty matched -- in fact, I think their offense spent more time with the ball than ours.  The difference was the defense--we sacked their QB 9 times.  You have to keep in mind that it was the first home appearance of the two freshmen QB's for WU and also it was a 90 degree day and very sunny.  The weather probably favored Cal Lu that day.  (Not like the cold, rainy muck you might get on a November day!)

Good luck to the Wildcats this Saturday.  Make the NWC proud!  I'm pretty sure your student fans will turn out for a playoff game, even if they didn't show up for some of your other home snooze fests this year!  Think about it!  With the exception of the Hardin Simmons game, most of your major battles were on the road.  They showed up in good number for the WU game!

Great job this season, Bearcats!  Looking forward to next year!!

On a side note, I don't think it matters that WU lost that first game -- we wouldn't have gotten an at-large bid anyway.  We're too far west of the Mississippi. :D

As far as getting to Mac, I think the Cal Lu team will spend longer on the bus getting to LAX than from PDX (according to Google, it's 48.7 miles, 2 hrs. in traffic from Cal Lu to LAX and it's 50.5 miles, 1 hr. 17 min. from PDX to McMinnville.)  They could land at one of the airports in Aurora, Newberg or Mac if it's a charter and save lots of time.  But, wait . . . this is the NCAA---it's a nice bus ride--lots of greenspaces.

P.S.  I have LOTS of time waiting for basketball to start . . .

OldCatProf:
Yes, that was off the game stats from the Wildcat web page. Although my time at Linfield is not as extensive as many of the other Linfield posters, I remember the crowds at all the games and especially during Lute week. Man, I miss being at the CATDOME! :'(

The PLU game is also archived there.

D O.C.

Now, you two, have you no stealth?    :(

If I was a CLU coach I'd petition to KADY to temporarily suspend access to those games for the rest of the playoffs.
GHC! Who needs to swap film when the whole game is archived on TV!

I feel safe in venturing ours are not. Not without 12 bucks, at least  :D

I can't tell if Linfield is the 2 or the 3 from the bracket I looked at.  anybody know?

Coco: I apologize for rephrasing your words, I took your statement different then I possibly should have.  And I agree Frosty's shoes are huge to fill.

No problem! Thanks.
I shouldn't have passed judgment on Scott's coaching.

;D You freeze yourself to death, then eat Mo's clam chowder.  It's an Oregon thing.

Obviously disappointed in the committee's decision, but we laid an egg in September and blew a couple golden opportunities against Linfield and paid for it.  Hopefully we can avoid a 1500 mile trip, an injury to our starting quarterback, and a freak interception-turned-touchdown next year.

Having seen both CLU and Linfield play in person, I think Linfield wins this comfortably - especially at home.  Even factoring in that the game I saw was CLU's first of the season, I just don't think the Kingsmen can match Linfield's speed on the perimeter or their physicality on the offensive line.  I'll get in on the pick'em action next year, but for now, I'll say Linfield 31-21, with CLU's last TD coming late in the fourth after the game's already been decided.

One more comment - this time on student attendance.  Keep in mind that this is Linfield's first title since 2005 - I don't mean that as a slight, just as a fact that this is the first time your senior students have seen a playoff team.  Even though Willamette is 19-3 (:o) over the last two years, my class still has a hard time getting past the stigma of that 2-7 freshman campaign.  Seriously - when the first game you see is a 35-7 loss to Gustavus Adolphus (like me), it's tough to get those students back.  As the saying goes, you never get a second chance to make a first impression.

Here at Willamette, freshmen and sophomores who've seen the last two years are continuing to come back, and we've definitely seen an uptick in student turnout.  The t-shirt promotion was a gimmick, sure, but it was far from the only thing that got people out to the game.

Nice Bracket  "Bracket of Death".  Why not just change it to an 8 team playoff  put teams 1 through 8 in it and lets get it on.

No biggie though.  This time of year its time to play your best against the best.

Let the purple frisbees fly ROCKETMAN Pound the ROCK, Phone it in !!  Its in the bank, Cats in a Rout, this one  (like last week) will be over by the half, just like when Rowan ( The beast from the East) came to the Catdome.

Thats all I got for now
