Haven't had a chance to chime in lately but congrats to Linfield on two big wins. Maybe the reincarnation of the Butcher is walking through that door. Good luck this weekend!

Thanks for the words RFB...I've been trying my best not to bust your chops (I have all off season for that) AB's a different type of QB that the Legend and AB didn't walk through the door....he kicked it wide open.  :)

ADvantage Catdome = West Region Final Preview: Linfield Vs. St. Thomas

D O.C.

Respectful again WC11.

If we manage to survive St. Thomas I shudder to of the ensuing preview... "Mew."

Hey! We had a guy show up at a Catdome game with Cardinal and Purple paint on his face and body. We asked him to go wash it off.
He did.

Just as I was starting to get overconfident, WC11 gives me a reality check.  Great write up WC.  Thanks

Out of curiosity what would the salary difference be for Speckmans new job?
Is it completely private?
ANybody have an idea of average salaries for DIII coaches and 1AA coaches?

Money always plays a part whether we like to admit it or not.

I'd like to respectfully disagree on the last part.  I think for a lot of the coaches at d3 money is not a serious part of the equation.  Three that come to mind would be Frosty, Ad, and Gagliardi.  I'd bet they all had serious offers from higher levels and chose to stay where they were.

That's not a dis on any who have moved on or "up", to each his own.

I meant in no way that the entire decision would be for the money only that I would assume it plays a part.  Great points though.  I can't imagine Frosty, Ad, Gagliardi or the likes ever being anything but DIII.

As much as I think Speck is a pillar part of Bearcat football I would be very curious to see how well the Fly offense would work at that level.  IMO it would take a few years for him to get the right personnel and technique in to run it, but that's sort of the same with any offense.

I hope the best for him in whichever direction he chooses.

So it's Wednesday and I'm the only person who isn't sure the game Saturday will have a video cast. The LINFIELD web site lists video/audio but I do not want to assume.

I certainly don't know anything about the X's and O's, having never played the game, but it's possible the Fly could be successful earlier, given Speck's experience with that offense. Last year was Paul Johnson's first at Georgia Tech, and he installed the Navy triple option with great success. I remember some people said the triple option would not work in the ACC, because of the higher level of competition, compared to the teams Navy usually plays.

Actually Navy's Coach Ken Niumatalolo learned the triple option from Johnson when the latter was offensive coordinator at Univ. of Hawaii and Niumatalolo was the quarterback.  Johnson later went to Georgia Southern where he won two D-IAA national championships.  After Ga. Southern, he was head coach at Navy with Niumatalolo on his staff.  When Johnson was hired by Ga. Tech., Niumatalolo was elevated to head coach at Navy.  Both have used the triple option successfully since their days at Hawaii.

It says that the game will be webcast, and once again be free, in the football update.

Weather should be excellent at the dome, it looks the roof will be open for this one. Hopefully Fritz and his magic feet eat dinner at muchas and he spends much of the game on the toilet.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

Wednesday, still waiting for Saturday. Mrs. PPJ and I will be leaving Friday at 8am promptly. Hope to get into Mac town by 5pm. Would like to visit the Deluxe. Here alot about it. So hope to see most of you Friday evening. Good article 11 on the Tommies. But big is not always good. I will take speed over big in a d-lineman any day. So D don't worry about those big O-lineman. we will be in the backfield before they get out of there stance. And O just stay balanced like you have been all year. Poke them big boys in the gut and fly right by them. Can't wait

A bi-annual newbie on-line class will now commence. Those of you with karma power may jog or jostle your way to the fridge for a cool one.

QuoteLegend has it that not long ago, and far away enough, Touchdown Tommy creepied (yes creepied) into the Liberty League sleeping porch whilst the self-talkers slept off the brain damage, and much like Jack, stole from the Giant. TDT slithered away into the night with the recipe for Monkey Stomp.

Please memorize this by Saturday, December 5th.

Monkey Stomp TM:
Margin of victory of 21 or more
(EngiNegro and redtackle)

Double Monkey Stomp TM:
Margin of victory of 42 or more
(sju56321 or ritz72, you guys can fight it out in a cage match to decide)

Stompout TM:
Monkey Stomp while shutting out the opposition
(Kilted Rat)

Monkey Stomp Squared TM:
RPI and SJU both by a Monkey Stomp on the same day
(57Johnnie and redtackle)

Double Monkey Stomp with Extra Cheese TM
:
RPI and SJU both by a Monkey Stomp on the same day, with one team executing a Stomp Out
(EngiNegro)

Stompout RoyaleTM
:
Double Monkey Stompout by RPI and SJU
(Johnnie_esq)

Dyslexic Monkey Stomp TM:
Win by 12
(Finsleft)

Gang Monkey Stomp TM:
Half a DIII conference wins their games by a Monkey Stomp
      (Knightstalker)

Double Stompout TM:
Margin of victory of greater than 42 while shutting out the opposition
   (Kilted Rat)
Sometimes referred to as a "Kong Stomp" in certain parts of the country
   (stlarry)

Bench Monkey Stomp TM:
Monkey Stomp is lead by the backup quarterback
   (JT and Knighstalker)

PPJ.....Linfield is usually the smaller team on the field but they usually are smarter, faster and just flat out better football players. Wildcat11 was being modest though...Our O-Line is right up there with their big boys and plus they're feisty.

See you at the Deluxe around 6 pm for a burger and brew....will be great to see you and all the other 'cats!

Deluxe at 6? I'll try to get there.
