"3. UWW will not win because Linfield is intimidated about playing one of the "Big Two"."

Actually BP, UWW is playing the team with 54 straight winning seasons....In my mind that makes the Cats...."The Big Number One."  But I do appreciate all of your interesting reads.

Gotta be proud of those 6-4 and 5-5 seasons.  Is 5-5 really a "Winning Season"?

It's consecutive winning seasons, the oldest winning streak in the history of college football, and no one is even close. Linfield hasn't had a non-winning season since 1955, the program has only had THREE 5-4 seasons over the past 54 years, so that is remarkable in itself.  Add in over 30 conference titles, four national championships, and you have one of the elite programs in all of college football.
The consecutive winning streak is also longer than any in college basketball program and any professional sports franchise.
The other significant aspect of The Streak is the fact that FIVE different coaches have continued the winning tradition.

I was just having fun.  As a Middle School FB Coach at a 2nd year school I would like to see one winning season.  :)

I did find this at the Linfield Website about The Streak:

And for 54 years now, Linfield College has produced a winning team on the football field. Since 1956, Linfield has fielded squads with better-than-.500 records, doing so without the benefit of scholarships, letters of intent or spring practice.

Wouldn't a 5-5 season be considered a .500 record and not count towards the continuation of the Streak?  Maybe if it was Non-Losing seasons, but not Consecutive "Winning Seasons".  EDIT: I thought I looked up Linfields records on the D3FB website, but was looking at the incorrect team.  My bad.

For the Record, I hope Linfield and MUC win this weekend.  I am tired of watching MUC play the Warhawks!

Note the words "better than".  There have been no 5-5 seaons, a few 5-4 (3 to be precise) but no .500 seaons or worse in 54 years.

I made a mistake and edited my previous post.  I looked at the wrong school on d3fb main site.

How long as MUC been playing football by the way--Obviously they are the most successfull program in the past  couple of decades at any level.  I went on the MUC site and had trouble finding how long the program has been around (not saying it's not there--just couldn't find it quickly)  Nevermind--found it.
Go Cats!

D O.C.

It's only Thursday! Everyone drive carefully because we'll all be thinking about something else.

Here's food for thought: What would you rather brag about?

10 National Championships or

55 consecutive winning seasons with 4 National Championships?

EDIT:  1978 was MUC's last non-winning season (4-4-1).  31 Years.

Not me--I knew I was done after highschool (something about being a 5' 7" 160 lbs. full back/ D-lineman didn't seem to make sense at the college level.....or the highschool level for that matter though I did pretty good there)

Well said, Criswyly.  54 consecutive winning season is an INCREDIBLE FEAT! Every single  Wildcat backer should point to that with pride. And in thinking about it, EVERY WILDCAT PLAYER for the past 54 years has played a role in it. That's amazing! Perhaps I'll change my #3:

3. Linfield will not win because UWW is intimidated about playing "The Big Number One".

I like the first four words of that sentence better, anyway.  ;D

"The Streak" is something we are proud of.  That, and four National Championships, are the only reasons you will see a Championship/National Record ring on a Wildcat.
