George Thompson

Congrats to Coach Smith for being named Coach of the year in the West Region!

http://www.d3football.com/all-region/2009_d3football_all-west_region.pdf

But the Wildcat football players were seriously slighted.   Only one first team on Offense and only one on Defense.  Unbelievable!   St. Thomas had four and even 2-8 Cornell was given two first teamers!!

UW-W had six (6!) first team selections.    I guess the Linfield players just have to show how good they are on Saturday!

Talk amoungst youselves...
I look forward to the banter!

Congrats to Coach Smith... as for the player selections... classic... but it's why we play the games and don't let people that don't play decide the winners... gotta love D3

The NCAA does not seed the brackets? Then just once in my life they could have the West play the south.

Wesley? Delaware. Mildish climate (and near race track casinos). That would leave the blizzard fans playing each other.

Just buying the (good) snow boots, socks, long underwear at REI store cost more than the airfare. I suppose I could have saved on sales tax if I would have waited until the Brookfield, Wisconsin store.

All Region team....no comment.

Coach of the Year...deserved.

Wesley? ACFC has only 4 participants? That's not an Automatic Qualifier, is it? 4 games on their schedule were non DIII? How can they keep up SOS?

I'm way out West and I've got to know!

The West champ did play semifinals in Texas a few times.  PLU in 1999 and St. John's in 2000 and 2002.  UWW hosted Wesley in the semi's more recently.

D O.C, your brain must be in brain freeze even before getting to Wisconsin...that one time happened last year.

Guys! Guys!  the West play the south IN the south.
Where it's warmer!
At least not where if you're left at a tailgate and no one notices you on the ground you will not freeze to death!

UWW played at UMHB, in Texas last year...not warm enough for you D O.C?

Yeah, yeah, I'm a whiner - because I could have donated the boot money to a worthy cause.

If it's not snow, then it's too windy in Texas, or a driving downpour in Oregon.

All playoff games held at neutral site Chapman.   :)  Then I could complain about parking.

A few years back we visited a place west of Madison called the House on the Rock. I think the guy who built it had smoked too much crack and his brain exploded. It was the darndest place. It was filled with all sorts of collections and stuff he'd designed, and it seemed to go on forever. Some of it was pretty interesting, like the machines he'd invented, but some parts were on the hokey side. With the weather back there, you guys going to the game may not have much time for sight-seeing, but if you want to see a national shrine, you could go to the Spam museum down near the southern border of Minnesota. Austin, maybe? I'm thinking of you here, DenS.

You lucky dogs, getting to see the game in person.
Safe travels, everyone, and no injuries!

coco, Austin, Mn, home of Hormel and Spam is only about a 5 hour drive, maybe more from Whitewater. Not sure it would advisable to send you friends on such a drive this time of year. The House on the Rock is much closer - 2 1/2  hours or so west near the town of Spring Green - they could also visit Taliesin, Frank Lloyd Wright's home near there.
