I was sorry to see Linfield lose and I wish I could have made the trip.  It sounds like Linfield had the game in control but receivers dropped potential TD passes and UWW got a couple of huge gains.  I was hoping for a Linfield win but actually expected to see a UWW win by 3 TD's.  I always know that Linfield has a great program year in and year out.  In that you played UWW like that, Linfield is/was even a lot better than I thought and I was closely following Linfield all year.

Good job Blue, Coco, Wildcat11, GHCat and everyone else.  We'll set 'em up and knock 'em down again next year.  Hopefully, it will be the Johnnies ending your playoff run next year and not UWW :)  I must admit that I'm getting really tired of seeing MUC/UWW year in and year out in the Stagg.  Someone's got to do something about this.  You guys came close.

chewey....I want to thank you for your considerate post. Of all the SJU posters I value your opinion the highest. You have been very observant on the board..... both to your team (The Johnnies) and also to Linfield. You don't sugar coat things and you tell it like it is.....plus you know how to talk smack if needed in a polite way. I think a lot of it has to do with your strong faith and you're allegiance to you school, plus a very good sense of humor and insightfulness about football in general. Thanks again for being a good buddy on the board and I hope SJU is back in the hunt next year.

Thanks for your thoughtful regards, Blue.  I am sure I don't always live up to them because I have been known to talk smack in a not so polite way too even with other SJU posters. TDT is going to hate me for it (and I am his homeboy  :)) but I like Linfield and have ever since we were out there in 2002 The rabid fan support and atmosphere out there was very nice to see.  Other than SJU and other than when other MIAC teams play SJU, the opposing MIAC and UW sites are like funeral palors.  I realize that our game was a playoff game but I've been to playoff games between MIAC/UW teams and other teams like St. Norbert, Ripon, etc. and it's dead. That sort of thing is a real asset for Linfield and its recruiting and Linfield does not commercialize things like SJU does.  That really gets annoying at SJU to have an advertisment every 10 seconds.  I realize it's business but I like the old school stuff.

On another note, can somene in the NWC explain to me what has happened to PLU?

[/quote]  Here's an observation, having grown up 6 miles from the PLU campus and having been recruited by both PLU and Linfield.  There was a man named Frosty Westering coaching at PLU.  An incredible football mind, a better motivator, and an even better human being!  He could inspire anyone.  He used to say " Make the Big Time where you are."  While I went to Linfield, there was always a respect for Frosty that was on a whole different level than any other coach in the NWC, except for Ad Rutchman.  If you wanted to play for the best, it was a coin toss.  Linfield or PLU.
Frosty left some big shoes to fill.
I don't know if you've spent much time in the northwest, but the area where the college sits is not waht it used to be.  Plu is a great program, and will be back.  The thing the program lacks is consistancy, but it would ue unwise to ever write them off.

Thanks for the reply 6t3bird.  I am sure there was a gaping hole when Frosty left.  I only became familiar with the PLU/Linfield battles in 1998 when SJU started playing PLU.  During the 1998 - 2001 years, I really had fun watching some of their players like Binger (RB in 2001) and that other RB on the 1999 team -- Hicks, I think.

A great season for the CATS, a game too soon to see the red and purple in Salem.  I only got to see the first half of the game over my computer, but you all really looked good to me playing UWW!!  Proud of the way you played.  Time to tool up for next year!!!  All the best to my CATdome friends!!!  I think Stone Station will be on the East side, on the 50 yard line, first row.  Wearing colors other than purple.  More like maroon and gold!

Chewey,
All I can tell you about PLU is when the Cats play them next year, don't expect Coach Smith to take his foot off of the gas until the final gun.  Its not going to be pretty !!

Here is next year's Linfield football schedule:

http://www.linfield.edu/sports/schedule.php?sport=fb

Why are there two games in So. Calif?    Couldn't they have been alternated those two games, home and away, between 2010 and 2011?     Is it because it is so tough to schedule those SCIAC schools, that they dictate the rules?

Also, why do we not alternate PLU and UPS games, so we don't have to go to Tacoma area twice in one year?

What confuses me is why Lewis and Clark is listed as an away game on the schedule yet is the "Hall of Fame" game?  Is that a likely mistake on the schedule?
