So who is responsible for the 2010 Linfield football schedule?  Mrs. Warthog and I were hoping to drive out to Oregon in September to watch our second most favorite D3 football team.  Now, I find out the Wildcats won't be home until October 2nd.  Isn't it a little strange for a team not to be home the entire month of September?

Wart,

Yeah, it's not ideal but in my opinion the 'Cats had to be flexible in order to get those SCIAC/DIII games on the slate and probably were not in a position to demand how the new deals line up.  The positive side is that after the first two games the remaining 7 are in locations that local NW fans can make (4 home, 2 tacoma, 1 portland).

Other news:  Whitworth's Adam Anderson was granted a medical red-shirt and will be eligable for the 2010 season.  100% agree with the NCAA on that call and I'm happy that he'll get a chance to go out healthy.

Hey WC11,

Wasn't there some type of problem regarding the off campus community stadium where Pacific was going to play this upcoming season? Thought you mentioned something on your blog about that. Are there long term plans for the Boxers to play home games on campus again? In terms of support for a new program, I would think getting a stadium built on campus  would be the best solution.

Pacific has stated from the jump that they want to play their home games on campus but there was a bunch of political dealings to handle due to the fact their new outdoor athletic facilities was co-funded by the City of Forest Grove.

After some hand wringing the city agreed to allow the Boxers to play only 5 home games a season and they still have to work out the practice schedules so they are not squeezing out the City's rec leagues.

That is the problem when you get into bed with the city on these types of developments...you have to do the tango with city admins whenever you need something.

Yeah---and we tried to get them to add a 10th game against USC----Pete Carrol was all for it but Kiffin nixed the plan when he took the reigns.....
Go Cats!

So come on down warthog!
That Oregon wine is second class to California anyway. I mean, who do you think sold their house for 700,000 bucks, moved to Oregon, built an Italian villa for 200,000 and planted grapes?

FWIW - now that was an Oregon day here today!
Forget surfing. All the lawn fertilizer, petrified dog droppings tossed into the street, all the hedge cuttings the los ilegales blew around in the name of clean-up from Monrovia to Rancho Cucamonga all washed out the cement rivers into the Pacific today.
Forget it for two weeks, at least.

WC11 - don't forget city administrations change all the time too. A sweetheart deal here is quickly forgotten there.

DENS---you've been spying on me, haven't you.  I might as well save my time and mail you all the fertilizer, dog droppings and my hedge cuttings (though our guy actually rakes them up and sticks them in a can so that should be easy enough to send to you)----then you can dump them in the ocean for me--- :)  Looks like this week will be very Oregonesque....though I don't remember it ever dropping 3-5 inches in one day when I was in Oregon which is what they are predicting for Thursday!
Go Cats!

Warty,

I'm thrilled to have an entire schedule of D3 opponents, no matter how the games are spread out. Last year's schedule was brutal, with a long road trip near the beginning, but the 'Cats kept picking up speed like a giant locomotive.

You and Mrs. W can spend the first part of your visit checking out Oregon, then come to the Willamette game on Oct. 2. The weather should still be okay by then, and the game should be more fun than your last visit to the Catdome.

We're looking forward to your visit.

DOC... FYI... all of our "petrified dog droppings"  in Rancho Cucamonga are shipped to a processing plant in Fontana where it is turned into a special resin used to manufacture Surf Boards  ;D

Falconer is leaving L&C to take an offensive job with Pacific.  Curious about that decision....

ADvantage Catdome = Player Blog, Gunnar Cederberg: A Season To Remember

Wow, what a class act. I've enjoyed watching him play, and he is a true Wildcat. Thanks to him for taking the time to share his thoughts with the rest of us.
I hope all the players are putting the season in perspective now and realizing what an amazing team they were. We won't forget 2009.

Hey, GHC, we saw on the news tonight that some of your neighbors want to raise $7K so they have a hysterectomy performed on a female swan and put her in the harbor for the male swan who doesn't have a mate. Was that your idea?

Do you think the potential of working with a new program outweighed the tepid support I heard L&C football receives? Just a guess, I wonder when the Pioneers last had a winning season, was it during the silver and black uniform era?
