If Menlo, Eastern Oregon, and Azusa went D2 it could make for a nice D2 league out west  with Humbolt, Western Oregon, Central Wash, and Simon Frasier (which I heard was getting back into the GNAC).

Ater Menlo plays Azusa Pacific, Southern Oregon, and Eastern Oregon, who in the NAIA are they going to play? Haskell Indian Nation University? I guess if it's good enough for Redlands, it'd be good enough for Menlo.

Wildcat11!
That's outstanding news! Congratulations to you and Mrs. 11!

That's great news for GHC and Mrs. GHC, too.

I've been on vacation for a while, and haven't checked this board lately. I was back home working on my tan. Speaking of parenthood, our elder offspring got married recently (she said hi to you, Topcat), so now Mrs. C and I are waiting for both our kids to start reproducing before we get too senile.

Mrs. Warthog and I had a tasty bottle of wine tonight from the Willamette Valley.  It came from the Duck Pond Cellars in Dundee, Oregon.  I would recommend their 2007 Pinot Grigio.

It's just down the road from here, Warty. We'll go visit there this fall.

My contact said that Menlo will be in a league for the 2011 season. Didn't say who though. SOU, EOU, APU, Menlo and who else? Play home and home and 5 non-league? Hmmmm. . .

Now THAT is a juicy piece of information cawcdad.  Maybe SOU isn't done after 2010?  Should be interesting what goes down.

Programing Note:  Brett Elliott and the Utah Blaze will be LIVE on the NFL Network tonight.  Brett's Blaze (1-3) will be playing in Wisconsin vs the Milwaukee Iron (4-1) with kickoff at 5 pm (Pacific Time).   This is the NFL Network's Arena League Football game of the week.

I got to watch the last 2 minutes of regulation and all of the overtime. Brett Elliott threw for 8 touchdowns ("Cat-Like") with only two interceptions in a game that saw the Utah Blaze losing in overtime 56-55 to the Milwaukee Iron. The Blaze will be playing here in Arizona in July. I just might put on my Linfield Red and Purple and go to the game. :)

RedandPurple,

I hope you can go, think the ticket prices will be favorable when compared to other pro sports. Fans can keep the footballs, so if you sit near the field, be alert!
Is Casey Allen playing arena football this year, wasn't he with the Boise Burn of AFL2?

I was out of town the last few days without internet access, so let me reply to your question about that high school program with a long winning streak. It was the sport of wrestling, and I was referring to Brandon High School in Florida, they held the national winning streak until a few years ago.

Arena football looks quick and exciting. I'll keep my eyes open. Now about Casey: Receiver Casey Allen a steady hand for the Burn

Boise Burn coach Brent Winter figures his job would be pretty easy if he had a roster full of Casey Allens. "He just does everything you ask of him," Winter said. "He's a warrior, and that's the biggest compliment I can ever give a guy. He's just a dream for a coach."

That was printed back in May of 2009. The following is posted on the Burns' current web page:

Burn suspend day-to-day operations - Idaho Sports Properties, the managing partner of the Burn, continues to research opportunities to play football ...

CANCELLED - Burn announce 2010 Hotshots auditions - The Boise Burn have announced that auditions for the 2010 Hotshots dance team have been cancelled.

Looks like the Burn are toast! I know, a bad pun. :)

That other streak, in wrestling, is pretty amazing.

Red and Purple,

If missus OldCat and I aren't on our annual summer trip to McMinnville when the Blaze is in Phoenix, I too will don my Linfield gear and take in the game.

Stay cool.

I was watching the game last night, first time I've seen Elliot play, and he underthrows a streak route by like 3 feet and the announcer starts going on about how he just doesn't have that strong of an arm, good touch but not a lot of arm.  Is that correct?  I guess I just assumed with the numbers he put up that he had a cannon.

Nothing wrong with Elliot's arm, unless he was dinged, maybe he just made a bad pass. I've seen John Elway and Brett Favre underthrow passes-it happens. Arena football doesn't require the QBs with the cannon arms anyway, it's more about accuracy and quick decisions.
