I never have recovered from a strained left hamstring trying a cheater five with no wax on the nose; sat right out on the leg and I'm told I'm 25% stationary permanent - never will recover.

Translation please for the landlock folks in the audience...tyvm!!  ;)

I'll be in California, LA and SD, in 10 days for 10 days or R&R.  I doubt I'll be doing any surfing though.  However I will be doing something I've wanted to do since I was about 10 years old.  Trust me that was a long, long time ago.  That is seeing the DODGERS play in DODGER STADIUM. We've got tickets for a weekend pair against the Mets and another game a couple days later in SD against the Padres.  I've seen them play in several other stadiums but this time I'll finally get to sit in the holy land.  I'm hoping I can talk my wife into adding an Angels game but that might be tricky.

Anybody know of some things you can't miss doing if you're in LA or SD?

While in San Diego visit the cove in La Jolla. It's one of San Diego's most beautiful areas. South of the cove is the Children's Pool which should be filled with seals this time of the year. Be sure to eat at Filippi's Pizza Grotto located in "Little Italy" at 1747 India Street. Go ride the roller coaster at Belmont Park in Mission Beach. If you want some ono (delicious) Hawaiian food go to Da Kine's Plate Lunch at  2400 Historic Decatur Rd.(619) 269-4561. You can always mapquest these places to get directions or use the gps in your rental car if it has one. I'll be in San Diego for two weeks starting next Friday.

San Diego is a beautiful, fun city.
I would make the USS Midway Museum my number one priority. It's at the Navy Pier.  You can tour the carrier at your own pace, and the views from the flight deck are gorgeous.
Second would be Seaport Village along the waterfront. There are some unique shops and lots places to eat and I think your wife would especially enjoy it.
Balboa Park would be my third choice. The museums and gardens are fantastic. There's even a  sports museum.

All are great places to visit. The World Famous San Diego Zoo is in Balboa Park also. You can drive over the bridge to Coronado or park at the downtown piers and take the ferry across the bay to spend some time shopping and walking around the island. If you like aquariums you need to go to the Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography at 2300 Expedition Way, in La Jolla, (858) 534-3474. Park yourself on anyone of the beaches and enjoy the sand and surf.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I've written them all down and will discuss them with my wife.  I'm sure she'll be up for some.  I'm not so sure that roller coaster thing will go over very big with her though.  :D ;)

Congrats to those NWC'ers that made the D3.com Pre-Season All-American team:

1st Team Defense
Drew Fisher, Linfield, Safety

2nd Team Defense
Paul Nishizaki, Linfield, Defensive Tackle
Ralph Pineda, Willamette, Linebacker

I know there will always be a beef with these teams but I 100% back the way D3.com puts together their team.  They don't water it down with 15 QB's or 50 lineman.  It has to be a hard decision but it makes the awards carry that much more weight.

I do have a couple of opinions that I'll craft later on the ADvantage about players in the NWC that may have a good argument on being on this team but were passed up but congrats to the three who made the team!

Feaster is back for what his 8th season or so--  He should be on the AARP team !!

D O.C.

Wartman and Daniels, now there's a safety nightmare. And that's how Drew Fisher wound up on the team. He did his job.

How can we ever play Wesley? They are just chock full 'o All Americans.

Hey, that special teams / kicking coach down at Trinity is doing something right. Wonder if he holds a clinic this summer.....

I'm sorry if people are tired of LINFIELD quarterbacks. Big mistake. Our guy over anybody in the country.

GHC...as you know All AARP team only goes 1 deep per position and Selway has had QB position locked up for several years.  Feaster had no chance...its 101 degrees down here today :P...back to my Slurpee ;D
