River -

The Bearcats play SOU at home this year.  After that they have a bye before getting you-know-who on the road.  Still, it's a crazy schedule for sure.

How's that going? Do we have your feature? :)

Just finishing it up, Pat.  Don't worry. :)

As for the recovery ... we'll see.  Surgery on Tuesday went well, and I'll know more in a week after talking to the doctors.  But when even Speckman says "Wow, how the heck are you dealing with that?" you know you've got a pretty severe disability.

Rare Syndrome Strikes McMinnville Football team
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/highschool/news/story?id=5483568

Just came across this on the Espn site.  This sounds serious.  I hope everyone comes out ok.  Any follow up info on this subject?

And, that, Coach, is why I never took your training regimen seriously.

Whoa! All kidding aside, that is amazing. It IS a real story, right?  I hope 'experts' are flocking to McMinnville.

I suspect when and if the entire story comes out it will not be due to normal football training activities....  Either something sketchy or a new training drill gone seriously wrong....

Good point, technology can create problems, we've seen the rush to judgment not only in sports, but general news as well. That article did mention creatine, so we'll have to wait and see if that ends up being the cause of this incident. It's my general understanding the use of that supplement has decreased in recent years, but I could be wrong.

You're not wrong about that particular substance becoming less popular.
That, based on a couple conversations that I have had with program people that
know about such things.
My comment here, as before, is to wait and  "connect the dots" after a bit more time goes by.
That means...wait for the boys to spill it...whatever it is or might be will eventually come out.  It's also probable that the whole thing...as mentioned by the Doc on the case; is a "Perfect Storm".

looking forward to seeing the follow up comments on this. ;D

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- An Oregon State University offensive lineman has been dismissed from the team after police say they found him naked and intoxicated in a stranger's home and had to use stun guns to take him into custody.

Corvallis police say they received the call about a naked intruder early Sunday.

Responding officers ordered 19-year-old Tyler Patrick Thomas of Kalispell, Mont., to get on the ground, Lt. Tim Brewer said.

Thomas refused and instead dropped into a three-point stance like a football player and lunged at the officers, Brewer said. At that point, he said, two officers fired their stun guns.

Brewer said Thomas "absolutely was intoxicated" at the time.

Thomas was arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass, criminal mischief and resisting arrest. He was booked into the Benton County jail and later released.

A home phone listing for Thomas couldn't be found.

Oregon State coach Mike Riley dismissed Thomas from the team Monday, OSU athletics spokesman Steve Fenk said. Thomas redshirted during the Beavers' 2009 season.
