Many of us, I'm sure, were anticipating the emergence of Pacific back to football after a 19 year snooze.
Well, they roared back (IMHO) at Baker Stadium and did themselves proud in a re-start of football for the Boxers.
I'm really looking forward to this programs "Climbing the ladder" and  getting back to business in the conference.
This is all I could find to read about from the UPS-v-Pacific contest:
Carry on...

Yes, that was a solid performance by Pacific in their first game back, regardless of how UPS finishes the season. If Pacific turns out to be better than expected, the game versus Lewis & Clark could be interesting. I would think it would be a huge setback for the rebuilding Pioneer program if they somehow lose to the Boxers.

Yo Shotgun! Are you making a trip out West this fall?

Unfortunately, it's not looking very good, unless my situation changes and I relocate out west. If that doesn't happen, I'll still try and catch another road postseason game as I did last November.

How many people caught that great Boise State-Va. Tech game last night? Most fans nationally probably know Boise from the Oklahoma game several years ago, but the Broncos have a fantastic program, with a lifetime overall winning percentage of .700, and two national titles.

Boise State and Linfield College do share a connection beyond a winning tradition. In 1968, the Wildcats visited Boise for the first game the Broncos played as a four year college. Prior to '68, the Broncos were a Juco powerhouse, so it was a big deal at the time for Boise to play as a D2 program.

The Wildcats defeated BSU, 17-7 in that initial game, which was a quality win for Linfield as well, even though it was outside the NWC. The Broncos had another excellent team that year, winning eight of their last nine games. The Linfield victory marked the first and last time the two schools would ever meet.

One interesting sidenote I discovered while researching Boise State football history, was the fact Mississippi coach Houston Nutt coached the Broncos for a single season in the 1980s. He was canned after leading BSU to a rare losing season, don't believe the Broncos played Jacksonville State that year. LOL

While we're talking Boise State football, the Broncos have some high-profile connections to Willamette - beyond the obvious Dan Hawkins one.  Defensive assistant (and former coordinator) Bob Gregory was the Bearcats' defensive coordinator from 1992-97.  Also, according to Speckman's genuinely fascinating autobiography, Speck was Hawkins' second choice for offensive coordinator in 1995.  The first choice who turned it down?  Chris Petersen.

That's all good but what about next week at HS?

Aren't you too old to do the pot-stirring stuff on other boards, Bluenote? It isn't 2003 anymore.

He's not that old, just worn out.

Cannot believe they don't take Linfield bets in Vegas.

Interesting, I wonder if any D1 school would ever take the chance and implement the Fly Offense on a full time basis. You see some D1 schools like Oregon State use the Fly on occasion, but nothing more. I heard Speckman was up for the Portland State job, so we might have seen the Fly at the 1AA level. Georgia Tech's Paul Johnson was using the Triple Option at 1AA Georgia Southern before moving on to Navy.

Thanks K4...from the Mac stay-behinds!
I know..."No Crybabies".  It's better now that you
helped us find the feed.  Still, I'd rather be raising it on the sidelines than in my house.  (My wife would agree) ;)  Cat's all day baby!

Here's an interesting Linfield plug from an unusual source.  7 Colleges Nationwide worth their tuition.

School # 3 Linfield, with nice football shot
