Disapointing result today for the Cats in Thousand Oaks.  Turnovers killed us--not only leading to scores for CLU but keeping our D on the field way too long---by the 4th Q they were getting pushed around pretty good on the running game that they had been stuffing earlier in the day.  Credit CLU's coaches for half time adjustments as they played much better in the 2nd half.  Cats gave them one to many turnover and in the end that was the difference.  Doesn't matter now--have to win autobid (as does Willamette) b/c a 2 loss team from the NWC isn't going anywhere in the post season (IMO).

Any other thoughts?
Go Cats!

After watching today's game on the net, I feel the Cats have a steep hill to climb to get by Willamette in 3 weeks.  The Fly is more challenging than what we saw today and it was a little reminiscent of two years ago when WU ran up and down the field scoring TD's every time in the second half that they touched the ball.  If they don't win the WU game, they won't have to worry about playing in late November.
LEAVE NO DOUBT

Fogot to say:  Nice meeting PPJ, GHC, DesertCat, CatDad, Oxybob and anybody else I forgot to mention today.  Hope to see many of you in two weeks at LaVerne

....we basically got run over in the second half being outscored 33-14. Other than that it was a pretty good game.

It's still a battle between WU and Linfield for the NWC championship. Waaaay too early to make any predictions, both teams with one loss. Slight upper-hand to WU with the road win vs UWSP last week, and they should retain a top-fifteen ranking even after a loss to HSU today.

Willamette's a top 20 team for sure, and they should probably be ranked ahead of the Wildcats.  But IMO, Linfield is still the team to beat in this conference.  Especially since we're playing them in McMinnville.

Hey good to see all you fellow posters and glenn and the gang. Nice to meet a few of you. OB, Monrovicat, DOC.

As for the game. We live to play another day. CLU played well the second half. We didn't play so well the second half. That is probably why they out scored us. So lets get better and take care of business one game at a time. I love all you players and you are the best. So go Wildcats, you are the best.

Time to forget this one and move on. I for one believe the Cats can run the table the rest of the way. No scientific reason for that other than I LOVE the Wildcats and know and have seen what they are capable of doing. Good game today, but we got out played in the second half and made too many mistakes. It'll all work out.

I think the broadcast over the CalLu internet site was good. They had some miscues, but overall an enjoyable way to watch the game. I loved some of the remarks made by the announcers ie. "He ran faster than a cheap lawyer trying to keep ahead of some angry clients."

Ya gotta love that quote.
Cats got a wake up call today. Didn't seem real sharp, but even late in the game with boehme at the helm I felt like we could still pull it out. I think that's a plus. As long as the Cats Believe, we will be fine.
More later.

Tough loss in a great season opener. I too felt that the Cats were going to pull it off, credit to Cal Lutes. But the Cats are going to rebound, fix a few kinks here, a couple of tweaks there, and look out!

I'm a believer.

OK Wildcat fans, yesterday was just one day in a long and successful history of Linfield football.  I still expect I will be witnessing a conference championship game when Mrs. Warthog and I visit the Catdome on October 2nd.  I'm expecting a better reception than Wartburg received in the 2002 playoff game played there.  Then again, this time my loyalties will be squarely behind the home team.

For now I'm off to the mall to see if I can find a purple turtle neck.  I'll be seeing you in 20 days.

True ; True ; True

I'm no expert, but these statements sound like a great example of deductive logic.

LC vs. CLU reminded of last year's game with Mary-Hardin Baylor---unfortunately  in reverse.

Linfield looked unstoppable for one quarter and six minutes.    They could have been up 35-0.    Then, it slowly but surely, changed.

Cal Lutheran looked awesome; that their runner, Mosier, was the difference.   We never did stop him.   And he didn't even start!    Congratulations to CLU.    You could have folded, but you didn't.

Now, the Wildcats are in a hole.   They must win out to make the playoffs.   And, even then, we will be lucky to have one home playoff.    Maybe we will be playing CLU again in Thousand Oaks in November.

First, our rushing defense needs to control WU and a some other good rushing teams.

Aaron Williams again had a very good game.   Eric Hedin and Drew Fisher had good games.

Both the offense and defense need improvement.    They are quite good, but not great.

I thought #12 on offense was very impressive---showed good hands even when CLU had a guy right on him.
