Compliments to all you Linfield posters for the sportamanship demonstrated before, during and after the CLU game. You do have a very good team and I am sure they will represent your school at a high level for the balance of the year. CLU did a good job on the webcast and I enjoyed it.

You posters have much class!!! Karma to you all.

Slight upper-hand to WU with the road win vs UWSP last week, and they should retain a top-fifteen ranking even after a loss to HSU today.

Willamette's a top 20 team for sure, and they should probably be ranked ahead of the Wildcats.  But IMO, Linfield is still the team to beat in this conference.  Especially since we're playing them in McMinnville.

B-Press,

At this point the rankings doesn't really matter.  It's more bragging rights because the only thing that matters now is winning the NWC.  That's the only real way to insure getting into the playoffs.  Yeah, beating UW-SP was a good win but that doesn't mean the NCAA will leave Willamette at home if Linfield takes the NWC.  It's going to be a mad house at the 'Catdome.

Disapointing result today for the Cats in Thousand Oaks.  Turnovers killed us--not only leading to scores for CLU but keeping our D on the field way too long---by the 4th Q they were getting pushed around pretty good on the running game that they had been stuffing earlier in the day.  Credit CLU's coaches for half time adjustments as they played much better in the 2nd half.  Cats gave them one to many turnover and in the end that was the difference.  Doesn't matter now--have to win autobid (as does Willamette) b/c a 2 loss team from the NWC isn't going anywhere in the post season (IMO).

Any other thoughts?

My thoughts?  Why is it that when a team commits several turnovers, it is because they gave them to the defense?  IMO, most of the time, they're earned.

True enough---I'd say that a couple of them yesterday were given in that they were balls that shouldn't have been thrown....but your point is well taken.
Go Cats!

WC11...Are you're thoughts here about the intensity of preparation starting on Monday...or specifically, Oct 2?

Cat fans of all shapes and sizes...... welcome to the came dome..... i was sad to read abourt the loss but this is what we can take away from this, the Linfield College Wildcats bring out the best in people. the cats bring out the best in the players that they have and also the players and coaches that they are playing. everybody wants to beat the cats. thats the sure sign that you have established something special. So this is our lot in life ..... if you want to be a 'cat you will have a target on your chest.

Bottom line.. the cats need to play some DEFENSE! scoring points is great but you gotta shut people down.  42 points should win football games. i gues ill make the quote but we all know its out there. ".....Defense wins championships...." if this is the price we pay to learn a valuble lesson.... so be it, price paid , lesson learned.... lets move on to winning the NWC and getting to the playoffs ..... the only thing that really counts in DIII football......

expect to win....i think not.... put in work to win... i think so.

Lets get back to Wildcat football.....and let the bodies hit the floor where ever they can fall.....

Ya, balls that shouldn't have been thrown are often the result of defensive pressure on the QB and/or great coverage by the secondary.  I appreciate your response. Not giving defenses props in a game with a lot of turnovers is just one of my pet peeves.

Congratulations to CLU on the win and many thanks for the free video of the game, along with the entertaining commentary. The quality was great. Mosier is a beast.

All we can do now is make it a learning experience. We've got outstanding coaches and we'll come back from this. There were flashes of brilliance yesterday, and it will come together.

It sure does suck having to wait so long for a home game.

Warty,
We can get you some Wildcat gear at the bookstore if you want.
Two words:  THE STREAK

D O.C.

My POV (behind all the people whom actually really needed to be blocking my free view) was the SoLutes overcame the penalties they made at crucial times. They were penalized 14 times for 81 yards. LINFIELD gave up 6 for 50 yards. My professional opinion being that Drew Fisher DID NOT commit a personal foul. I saw his helmet hit the runners shoulder pads -  only to slide up into the runner's helmet. So make that 5 for 35.

The SoLutes also fumbled more times than LINFIELD,  losing only 1 of 5. So they were able to minimize that damage too. LINFIELD lost both (2) their fumbles.

Two of Boheme's 3 interceptions really do not bother me in that they were a db's dream. Who doesn't like the tip drill?

Yes, WILDCAT fans, this is a new season. Days of protecting Aaron so he can wave HI! to Mom and Dad before releasing the ball have followed the yellow brick road.

l'nd has it. Expect to work hard with what ya' got.

And, no, I did not leave that chair I was sitting in to close it up in November.

Thanks, but if I go with the plain purple I can get double use out of it by wearing it to our local high school games.

Thanks for the compliment dahlby. I pushed some karma your way. There's no need to talk bad trash, regular type mini trash is okay :D, while supporting your team. Win or lose it's still just a game. However, there are some plays I'm having a hard time shaking off. Now it's a bye for the Cats and then back to California.
Go Cats! Make it 62 in '17!

One stat that really stood out to me while watching the game then looking at the numbers was Time of Possession.  From the second quarter on it was CLU 29:45 Linfield 15:15.  That T.O.P. combined with CLU's big O-line wore on the Cat's defense and eventually led to the big runs by number 30.  CLU did a great job on keeping the ball out of our play makers hands (the turnovers being the icing on the cake for CLU).  If the Cats can get by our best buddies down the road and play the rest of em like they should....then I guess we might see CLU in November at Moorpark JC (number 30's Alma mater).

How old was that guy from UMHB in the Stagg Bowl? 27?
Our society is evolving/devolving, I know, and where once kids jumping from high school to high school for opportunity was held in disdain, economic factors have made people look at opportunity from a different perspective. As our troops return from oversea duty we will probably see more and more older players against the 18 year-old freshmen.
School districts still debate whether to put 6th graders in middle school and 9th graders in high school for developmental reasons. That's simply another example.
And now for another Devo remembrance: it's all just Freedom of Choice, idn't it?
