I was at the game, and it will be one to be remembered. I did not take my video camera with me and I am kicking myself. If anyone was there and has game footage, I am mainly interested  in the overtime periods, I would pay to get a copy.

And just in time for Linfield week! ;D ;D ;D

Are we still allowed to comment about that or is it now politically incorrect?

Actually, it seems timely, since the first game WU's female kicker was in was at Linfield.  WU won it 27-0, I believe.

It was a publicity stunt.  And no cat will ever forget it.

Not sure the same can be said about the Dutchmen kicker.  Curious as to her stats though.  Is she on par with other kickers in her league?

That game was at Willamette (I should know I was on the field).

Any video of you trying to politely get to the kicker?

Such an important game early in the season means I do not care if AB takes off any time he chooses this week.

Precisely my point: Liz Heaston outscored Linfield that game. ;D

I'm still having nightmares about Boehme's scrambles last year.  I'm also concerned that our defense is reverting to circa-2007 form: tough against the run but getting murdered in the air.

Serious question. What do you think is the ideal scenario to have before a big game like this?  A bye or a game against the La Vernes of the world?
"It's a slippery slope from the penthouse to the outhouse." - Mark Speckman

Andy Jamison

We've got 3 good running backs and what looks like 2 good tight ends.. I'm wondering if the coaching staff would consider running the Beef offense that we ran in 1992.  Double tight ends, 3 running backs in a row... with Boehme a running threat this would give a way different look in a short yardage situation.  It sure wasn't fun being a receiver but was cool to watch the scheme work.

I'll be missing the game Saturday with some minor knee surgery.  Didn't schedule it so well!  As usual I bet the game will come down to turnovers and penalties.  Both teams should move the ball well.. we'll just need some crucial stops.

Bearcat - Would I rather have a bye week or a LaVerne prior to a big matchup?  It kind of seems the same thing to me... you go into the game against LaVerne pretty sure that you are going to win just based on records and program direction.  You can make mistakes at game speed that you can learn from and immediately use the next weekend.  I'm simply not a big fan of bye weeks period.

Quote from the Oregonian:

QuoteWith 238 schools in Division III and only six at-large berths, the odds are long that a second Northwest Conference school will get picked. The last time it happened was 2004, when Willamette and eventual national champion Linfield went to the playoffs.

"I've accepted it and moved on that we're only going to get one playoff berth," Speckman said.

Since both teams already have a loss -- Linfield (1-1) dropped its season opener at No. 25 Cal Lutheran -- Smith said he's doubtful both schools can advance to the postseason.

"I don't know that a team is going to get in with two losses. The West is so loaded. It's by far the most difficult region to get an at-large team," Smith said.

You're right.  I guess being the visitor makes being outscored by a girl more acceptable?   ;D

It's a little early to be concerned with post-season play.   I think the Lutes are a bigger threat this year than they have been recently, unless Linfield had an off week, followed by a Cal Lu off-week??  Highly unlikely.

Can't wait for Saturday!!  Go Bearcats!

As a three-and-a-half-year starter I don't think you can even think about calling it a stunt.

Doesn't matter how she compares to the rest of her conference, only to the rest of her team. Lebanon Valley was one game shy of making the playoffs last year and I am sure Jim Monos wouldn't have been playing his second-best kicker all season in that scenario.

All this Liz talk is making me go to the Catdomealumni site to watch Boehme's big hit in the Willamette game last year, over and over.

Hey, Bleedpurple! I like your rankings. Showing the Wildcats some love there.

I guess key players can sustain injuries during a bye week and a game. Prefer a 10 game schedule.

Absolutely! I got to see the Cats up close and personal at UW-W last year. I'm convinced they are a top 10 program. But I have lots of regard for the Bearcats, too!
