Good catch on the poll. It's a Presto bug that I figured out a workaround for last week but forgot to do this time around.

Pat, do you read every post on every board?  How the heck do you do it?!  Great work on the D3 site.  Thanks again!

Yes. Not necessarily in a timely manner (and not every pick'em or in-game update) but I do feel like I have to read them all as part of running the site.

Great game, Linfield.   Holding WU to only 7 points!   WOW!  Huge D improvement over the CLU game.

Anyone have word on Williams's injury?    I hated to see that happen.   He is a good runner.

Traveled up to Tacoma again yesterday to watch the Loggers play PLU. Puget Sound played as well as they have in a long while, ran the ball with impunity on the Lutes, played excellent defense with the exception of a few mental lapes, which is typical.

Duncan White threw a td pass to tie the game with 21 seconds left, and... a mental lapse. Ford runs a caught pass down the sideline to the 47, and we HIT HIM OUT OF BOUNDS for a 15 yard penalty, making the game winning FG possible.

Sheesh...two heartbreakers in a row for PS. I sure hope the guys can recover again and play Linfield tough. The Cats are on a roll...what an impressive victory over Willamette.

BUMMER! For another one read below what happened at the end of the LSU/Tennessee game. :o

College football: LSU makes most of second chance against Tennessee

LSU made the types of mistakes that lose games and drive fans nuts. Then one critical lapse by Tennessee in the frantic final seconds let the 12th-ranked Tigers off the hook.

LSU remained unbeaten with a 16-14 victory Saturday in Baton Rouge, La., after a Volunteers penalty for too many players on the field rescued the Tigers from a botched play as time ran out. Stevan Ridley then bulled his way into the end zone from a yard out, and fans who only moments earlier had begun to file out of Tiger Stadium in disgust were suddenly jumping for joy in the aisles.

Are you guys (and guyettes) sure that the Wiley Cats that whupped up on Willamette yesterday is the same group that I watched struggle through two games over in Smog City? What a game!!!!

Wasn't able to get to the game as Mrs. OldCat had no more travel money in the cookie jar. Also, yesterday was Square Dance Saturday here at the Old Folks Home and we sure didn't want to miss that.  ;D

Mrs. OldCat says the social security checks will be deposited by the Homecoming game, so we hope to find a ride to Mac for that one.

Go Wildcats!!

Actually it wasn't the same group--the team(s) you saw only had about 54 guys which meant limited subs which was not good in the heat.  Yesterday we had the full 130 + (and home field/weather/etc.).

Good point...a sometimes overlooked point.

All things being equal then would playing WU at thier house have been otherwise interesting or different?
I know, I know...what's the point; but I'm between games and need to think about goofy stuff.

well---it's a bit different than flying to SoCal.  I think you can afford to travel more guys 20 miles South and the weather and ammount of fans that would make that trip would make it much more like a home game than the first two of the year.
Go Cats!

So....D3football.com has the knowledge to fill out 25 ratings. The top two are shoe-ins, we all agree. They sure do a good job on the rest of them though.  I am very confused after seeing 3 games myself and following many others.
Wesley is not waltzing. Mary HB has been playing Hum Bug sometimes. St. Thomas needs a big break.

Being interested in the West Coast how am I going to figure out PLU? Or CLU, who HAD to have a blocked punt last night or their only victory is over gosh dang LINFIELD?
Whitworth stands up after sleeping around and Puget Sound is a couple moments removed from only one loss to OXY who muddled around and got out of a jam with Whittier.

One game at a time it has to be.

No kidding it has been a strange start to the year. I do believe we are now seeing the true Linfield team, which is probably bad news for the Loggers. Rough start in Cali, but the win over the Bearcats was convncing. As for UPS, turnovers and mental mistakes are the sign of an inconsistent team, which is what they are. When they are clicking, they can play with anybody, I think.  They have talent. But, turn the ball over and make mental mistakes against teams like Linfield (the Loggers had seven against Oxy) and you'll be on the wrong end of a big score.

I'm just hoping for a good game Saturday, and looking forward to meeting a few of the posters on this board.

Well, Bearcat Press was already on here -- that leaves me & maybe one other that haven't been scared off by the Linfield posters over the years.   I agree with BCP -- our team's performance yesterday sucked!   Not the WU team that I was expecting to show up.   Probably a similar feeling you all had when you went to Cal Lu?  So, I have three questions:

Did Linfield have an impressive victory over a great Bearcat team or just swoop over one that sucked?  You know you don't get to have it both ways, right?

And, WHY on earth did your coach leave your starting QB in during the 4th quarter, up 28 points and 4 minutes left to play?

Is PLU the only undefeated team in the NWC?  If so, why aren't they ranked?

I think like any game, the team that lost did not have a great day and the team that won had a pretty good day.  However, the Cats did not play anywhere near a perfect game (e.g. more turnovers than the Bearcats)---Many of us were complaining about leaving the starting QB in so late (and several other starters) and I do not have an answer for that (other may).  As for PLU--they are the only undefeated teams but started the season so low in any rankings that their 3 wins against a combined 4-7 record for their opponents has (prior to the latest poll at least) earned them enough credit to rise into the rankings.  They were sitting around 32 in last week's poll so they may be getting close but will have to beat a Willamette or Linfield for it to mean anything.

p.s.  Kudos for the two of you for sticking around.  Wonder if we'll hear from River prior to next season.  There have been several Willamette posters who come on, talk trash, and then disappear but you guys are the real deal.

1.  Both can happen.

2.  Coach may be asked this...but who cares.  Big games need big decisions and that game was a deal breaker for both.

3.  PLU is recieving votes in the D3 polling.  A different Strength of schedule would have them ranked higher with 3-0 record to date.
