I'm the Dad of a L&C student (not a football player) - and somewhat in shock... what is up with the L&C football team this year? They haven't had two wins in a season since 1997... must be the new turf...

I'm glad they are doing well...I think they have one of the neatest campuses in the Northwest for scenery and old/new buildings. And their dining hall is very old school. With the new turf, their stadium and venue is one of the best in the NWC, IMHO.

You know, my records don't go back that far, but I'd be happy to compile a list of Oregon Bearcats that have helped Coach Smith lose two straight to Willamette. ;)

Coach Smith has 8 more chances to scratch out 2 wins to match Speck's current 3-8 record vs Linfield. I like his chances.

Had to dig this one up.  It only took Coach Smith two more chances (3-2) to match Speckman's win (3-10) total vs our local rival. :)

What a great game by the Wildcats! We're definitely on track now. I gotta admit that I thought it would be closer than it was
Hedin was a monster.

It was good to see the regulars, but we missed you, GHC. We had special celebrity guests with us who you would have enjoyed.

BCP and bbaddict,
I hope Arin Taylor is okay. We all hate to see these kids get injured.

Thanks for the welcome. As my son is a baseball player, my interests in this board started over on those pages - but increasingly I'm starting to read this board as well. When I saw the note a few pages back calling for Pio participation I couldn't resist. Probably won't participate much - but know that we Pio Parents are out here lurking!!!

I am so upset for the guys to lose a heartbreaker like that, I lost more close games to PLU than I care to share and I can't imagine how the guys are doing after losing the way they have 2 weeks in a row, hope they can buck up for homecoming and give the Cats a run for their money this week,

They played us pretty well (on offense) last year if memory serves me correctly--could come back to bite them this year.
Go Cats!

I feel like the series has an ebb and flow to it being you guys beat us by 60 to 70 and then we play tough, rinse, repeat. This doesn't look to be a "played tough" year if the cycle is correct.

if they get lucky like the CLU and meet us on their hottest day of the year....

The weather was hot, but CLU didn't play their best GAME, they played their best HALF ... Luck is a byproduct of skill and preparation.

Maybe Linfield will be "lucky" enough to make it back down for a re-match someday soon.  :D

I'm hoping for that as well.  If both teams get the chance I don't think the Cats will turn the ball over 5 times and I don't think CLU's Mosier will rush for over 200 yds (in the 2nd half?).  How come he didn't play this week?
Go Cats!

Great to have you on here Piobark.  I'm afraid us Linfield posters often times overwhelm the other posters, but i guess that's the price we pay for having such a dominate team ;D
It is exciting to see L&C with a couple wins this season.  I have no first hand knowledge but just from seeing the scores it would appear that they are moving up a level from their previous years of play.  ANd the same for UPS.  I don't think they will be a pushover for any team this year, which they have already proven.
I don't think the Cats will be looking past them in any way this week during practice.

I think if you merged UPS and L&C this year they'd have a good team.  UPS is doing some good things on Defense (as in creating turnovers---still not able to keep teams from scoring though) and is passing the ball alright.  Lewis and Clark has no defense to speak but is running the ball about as well (statswise) as any team out there.  I think the conference as a whole is improving which is all around good.
Go Cats!

Proud Papa Joe

Home sweet home. Speaking of Sweet, it was nice to see Sweed this weekend. Havn't seen him since last year. It was also nice to see all the Tailgaters. Glenn you and our crew are the best. What a turn out this weekend in the Tailgate area. The place was packed with Linfield fans. Great Great, day.

The drive home was good. Nice to have the RV to rest and sleep in. We have put over 3,000 miles on the camry in three games, and we have 6 more to go. We will be ready for a new car when we are done.

See most of you in Tacoma. Time for Monday night football.

Keep it up Cats
Things turn out best for those who make the best of the way things turn out.

Yep. I think the conference is overall stronger this year, as well. L and C has come a long way. The LC team I watched beat the Loggers last year was much improved, and you can see it in their performance this year to date. they are no longer a pushover. The Logger defense was solid last year for much of the year, and has continued that this year. They are often on the field for way too long, due to offensive turnovers.

Coach Thomas has brought a new intensity to the UPS squad. They do not quit, and will bring it on defense and toss it around when they have the ball. I'm looking forward to the game on Saturday.

George...I suspect they might put something into the press release this week but I'm not sure what his status is.

Ida,

If Linfield plays with the sharpness they did this past Saturday then the 'Cats are going to hammer the Loggers but if the 'Cats are sloppy then it might be a good ball game.  We'll have to see.
