Talk about a different sort of season.....The Cats start off with an aberration, L&C is winning ball games, PLU stuffs the CLU and is undefeated, PU is back and UPS is playing like they are for real...The Cats make it look easy in a game everyone thought was gonna go down to the wire....and Whitworth....well they're still the Rats.

Speaking of PLU, I remember hearing plans of the Lutes wanting to build a football stadium on campus. Is there any news on this? I've been to the community stadium a couple times, but can't even tell you how far it is from the PLU campus.

At least they finally got rid of that turf at Sparks...

You don't really want a rematch with the Catdome, do you?  Two lucky days in a row against the Cats is not a bet one should take on. Better treasure that victory while you've got the chance:)

I think that's a rhetorical question... I don't care who we play as long as we are in the playoffs and on top of the SCIAC... but you better believe I would love to see the LU put another smack down on Linfield :D, especially a POST SEASON smack down.

Its funny all the talk about this "luck" ... but I keep checking the statistics column from week one and I don't see that listed anywhere?? Just a big old W ... Maybe they just haven't updated it yet.  ;D  Still waiting on that update from PLU as well

The BPD3 Level System Top 25 unveiled:

NOTE:
BPD3 Level System Top 25
To add to the intrigue and fun of the ranking system, I am creating "Levels" within the Top 25. In the "Level System", I will be grouping teams that are reasonably comparable in my opinion and exposing where I believe there is a drop-off of some kind between ranks.

Is there anyone "intruding" on Level 1 with UW-W and Mount Union?

Where do the "breaks" occur between levels?

In what level do the Cats fall?

Are the Bearcats still on the radar?

Hey K4
Hang in there, we know you all are pretty pumped up about the possibility of getting after our Cats later on this season.  After seeing the Cats play you guys down there and watching the WU game last week I have to say our Cats are on a fast track to playing at the level that they finished last year at.  Granted, nobody plays WU like the Cats, we have their number for sure at least a high % of the time.  If we do see you again, expect our boys to keep their foot on the gas.  As for me I am pumped because I only have a 4 mile drive to see our Cats play at UPS this weekend.  Two things to watch, the Cats take apart the NWC one at a time and WU rolling up big numbers on the rest of their run.
And, I still can't believe your boys rolled over at PLU !!  Go figure.  Also 47-42  Smackdown !!  That can't be your A-game material K4 !!!

Glen, if you and the boys are coming up here this weekend, give me a call.

Hey, bleedpurple -- thanks for keeping the Bearcats on the radar, however faint!   We seemed to have dropped completely out of the rankings, though I'm not sure how, since we got beat by Linfield, the perennial favorite!   I mean, if you get beat by a crummy team, yeah, but we got beat by, well, you know!

I sure hope you're right about WU, GHC.

Bearcat Press -- maybe you could be in Salem on Saturday and make sure the team gets on the bus?   I'll go early to Forest Grove & see to it that they arrive! ;D  Anyone can have a bad game -- especially against Linfield, but last Saturday was just not what I expect to see when the Bearcats play.   Here's hoping for better times . . .

GO BEARCATS!

I think the size of the defeat is what dropped Willamette from the rankings.  Had they played a close game they may have stayed ranked.  But considering the outcome was nearly identical to that of the Linfield-LaVerne game (La Verne gave up less points but could only muster a field goal)....well....hard to justify a top 25 spot with a 2nd loss blowout.
Go Cats!

Know this is sudden but the 'Cats are trying to raise money this week to present to UPS defensive back, Corey Obungen, who was paralyzed this summer in a diving accident in Hawaii.  Corey is a former HS teammate with current 'Cat backup QB and baseball star, Cole Bixenman.

What a GREAT idea. C'mon you posters and lurkers, let's support the D3 family. It speaks volumes about D3 values when the players take leadership of a worthy cause. Let's get behind this. Mrs. OldCat and I have contributed...There's not much time until Saturday, but let's gitter done.

Speaking from a first hand look, that team seemed like one that only comes along ever so often... you guys were pretty unreal last year (not taking away from this years squad, just saying)....

As far as PLU's game ... I almost tossed my computer into the wall to stop the audio ... Havent seen any video from the game but it sounded UGLY....

47- 42 SMACKDOWN ... YES  ;D - I call it like I see it! Anytime a team comes back from a haltime deficit like that I am fired up about it. Oxy did it to us in 06' (21 point lead at half), and I will say there is no doubt in my mind that Andy collins gave us the second half smackdown of his career.

I'll go ahead and agree that it was some type of smackdown from about the last 2 minutes of the first half until finish.  But only because this should add some fuel to the Cats fire if we should run into you guys again.

I cut a check for $100 to the UPS player cause.  I know I talk smack from time to time (Always)  but this time, this cause really needs to get done.  As a father of 2 former players, and as a  long time coach, I can't imagine what this family is going through.  Sending prayers and strength are one thing, but allowing this family the security to start the healing and recovery process without the financial burdon is another.
