Speaking from a first hand look, that team seemed like one that only comes along ever so often... you guys were pretty unreal last year (not taking away from this years squad, just saying)....

Kingsmen4, actually at Linfield that occurs a lot.    Our 2002, 2003, 2004 National  Champs, and 2005 teams were every bit as good as last year's team.    And, don't forget the one and only 54 consecutive winning seasons!    No, last year was not a fluke for the Wildcats.

GO CATS!  GO!

I cut a check for $100 to the UPS player cause.  I know I talk smack from time to time (Always)  but this time, this cause really needs to get done.  As a father of 2 former players, and as a  long time coach, I can't imagine what this family is going through.  Sending prayers and strength are one thing, but allowing this family the security to start the healing and recovery process without the financial burden is another.

Thanks for helping!!
Others?

We mailed ours yesterday. It's a good thing the 'Cat family is doing to support a D3 athlete.

GHC, I'm sorry you missed Mr. and Mrs. Warthog on Saturday. You would have liked them. They are great people. They came laden with Wartburg gifts, too -- T-shirts, big Wartburg mugs, and even Wartburg candy! We were glad to show them some Linfield hospitality.

GO 'CATS!

I'd like to pass on some sad news...my good friend TuxGuy's dad passed away this last weekend. Dr. Paul Howard was a longtime professor at Linfield College in the Sociology Department. He worked along side my father who was in the Math Department for over 30 years at Linfield..... and our families were close friends and also very active members of the First Baptist Church. I took a sociology class from Dr. Howard at Linfield and found it most interesting...one thing I really remember about the class was.... a field trip to the Oregon State Penitentiary. The thing I remember most about that trip was that their were several Linfield football players in the class ......at one point, one of the prisoners looked at us and said that he was "going to break the leg of one of the girls" in the class if they got closer. At that point I remember 3 of the Linfield football players getting between her and the inmate and saying...."who's going to break who"s leg"? It's just a side story...there are many more about the TuxGuy and the Howard Family to remember....I wish TuxGuy and his family peace in this time of sorrow for the loss of their father Dr. Paul Howard.....

Thanks Coco,
I really wanted to come down, but in this case there as no way for me to travel.  Had to watch it online in my man cave.    Now I am back to my old self and ready to roll over the bridge to UPS on Sat and of course follow up with the BWC, the game and watching 'Wildcat 11 , Chadwick and the rest of the Alums get after the young Cats on Sat night.  Should be an awesome weekend.  Say hi to Mrs Coco.  Maybe we could score some  of her cookies for the BWC  Im sure they go with beer and probably have enough majic to straighten out my dakine slice !!!

Go Cats

Just something to read and ponder.

Mesa Prep football squad, and dads, won over by Coach Amy
by Scott Bordow - Oct. 6, 2010 12:00 AM
The Arizona Republic
The fathers leaned over the chain-link fence and intently watched the junior-high football coach at Mesa Preparatory Academy.
Some of the dads were anxious. Others were fearful. Many of their sons were playing football for the first time. They didn't know how to put on shoulder pads. They weren't sure how to buckle their helmets. Heck, some of them didn't even know how to do a jumping jack. To make matters worse, there was the coach. Greg Staloch thought about the phone call he had received from his wife, Chris, while he was on a business trip. She told him about the introductory meeting with the new coach and how excited their son, Nick, was to be playing football. Then she gave him the bad news. The head coach was a woman. So was her lone assistant.

Tuxguy,
Our thoughts and prayers are to you and your family.  Your Dad made a real contribution over the years to our beloved Linfield.
LEAVE NO DOUBT

OldCatProf

Tuxguy,

While I'm OldCatProf now, when I first met your Dad in 1970 I was the youngest professor on the Linfield faculty...barely 25 years old and fresh out of Michigan State. I was more than a little intimidated at my first few monthly faculty meetings when the (I thought then) "old lions" such as your Dad got up to speak. He and the other "senior" faculty members seemed so eloquent and thoughtful.

I hope that Dr. Paul's passing was peaceful. His contributions to Linfield and its students over the years were many. Rest in Peace, my friend!!

Tuxguy,

Your dad was a truly nice man and a class act all the way.  He was a credit to Linfield and to the local community.

You and your family are in my prayers.

Hi Tux,
As a Linfield student during your fathers tenure I also echo what Prof and Coco said.  Be strong Bro, the Catdome nation is around ya.

Dear Tuxguy,
I am so sorry to hear about your loss.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and all your family at this trying time.  It sounds like he was a wonderful man and educator who touched many lives.  A legacy like that lives on.

Thought you'd like to know that tests came back negative last week.  Clean bill of health so far for a certain ex-Warhawk LB.  :)
