Great win for Linfield today. 55-14 over UPS.

The following came up during the game.

Re: NWC/SCIAC In Game Updates

"Boehme jumps over the logger defenders and into the endzone---wish we had video---Cats score, pat is no good (missed this time)--- Cats 28 Logs 0"

"Maybe 11 got it.
D3 highlight of the week?"

Gee, after losing to PLU the way they did last week do you think the Logs worked on blocking XP & FG this week?

Who is not excited about L&C / PLU game this year..................besides me?

Outstanding stats: "Linfield ended with a season-high 591 yards of offense, including a whooping 330 yards on the ground."

"...the Linfield defense limited the Loggers to 216 yards. In all, Linfield intercepted UPS quarterbacks six times. UPS was 4 of 15 on third-down attempts. "

Outstanding Class: 'CAT SCRATCH: The Wildcats presented injured UPS player Corey Obungen with a check to help offset medical expenses prior to the game. . . a former high school teammate of Bixenman, Obungen was paralyzed in summer a diving accident in Hawaii. . .

Way to go Linfield! Makes me proud to be a Linfield fan.

Thanks for the classy, sucky remarks.  I have not gone away, simply sulking in my cave since last week.  The Wildcats were great.  The Bearcats were not.  They can do better and will.

Go Bearcats!

River,

Being a strong Linfield fan, I still have much respect for Willamette.   You should win out. You have only lost to two strong teams.   Nothing to be ashamed of.

Next year, we must beat you in Salem.   Not going to be easy.

GO WILDCATS! GO!

George

Now this is a classy remark and is much appreciated.

It's never easy beating Linfield and it can't be done if we don't play our best game.  It's very seldom that the Wildcats don't bring their best game.  It's as simple as that.

I, for one, will participate on this board on my own schedule - not on someone else's

Today's game between WU and Pacific was never in doubt.  With such a young team Pacific is taking its lumps this year.  I predict that a couple of years from now the Boxers will be at least middle of the pack in the NWC.  They looked and acted like a well trained team, they never gave up, the "snap" was still there at the end, and it is easy to see that the foundation is being laid.

The Bearcats mostly kept the starters (plus some subs) in through the first half.  The second half was given over to the less experienced and/or third and fourth string players.  Time for getting game experience and working out the kinks for those who don't get in as often.  I haven't seen the play chart but I'm betting most got in.

So congrats to the Bearcats for doing their job and congrats to the Boxers for bringing their game.

With the failed kicks today, whether blocked or missed, it made me wonder what has happened to Scott Birkhofer. I was at the game when he put up 18 points, including 5 field goals, at Pacific Lutheran in 2006. Does anyone have any info on him?

Great win by our boys yesterday, as if there was ever any doubt, and the check to Corey Obungen was a nice touch.

We met Coach Smith's mom here at Sunriiver a couple days ago. She saw my Wildcat gear and struck up a conversation.

Linfield is everywhere!!

Wildcats, good win yesterday.   Does anyone know the status of Aaron Williams?   Back soon?    Out for the year?

Well, awful performance by the Loggers yesterday, teu that. From the gun they were unable to stop the Cats, especially on runs up the middle, where UPS had lost their mike linebacker for the year, and thier noseguard for at least a couple oif games. While you are celebrating Boehme's great run, check out the obvious hold by the right tackle right in front of the referee to set up the td. When you play poorly you do not get those calls.

Our pass coverage was atrocious yesterday. So many receivers running uncovered down the field. Aargh.

Clearly the Loggers have work to do. Congrats to Linfield, an excellent football team.
