The L&C game was one of the wildest games I have ever heard... can't think of one off hand that had more lead changes...

The Pioneers quarterback Keith Welch hooked up with junior Shawn Evans with one second left on the clock to earn the Pios a 68-64 victory.

INSANE! :o

The Pio/Logger spectators got their money's worth.

Congrats to the Wildcats for continuing THE STREAK, as if there were ever any doubt. It's gonna be a good ride home.
Two words:  THE STREAK

The Lutes are for real.  I was surprised how easily Jordan Rasmussen was able to pick apart the Linfield secondary when he had decent protection.  Rasmussen actually had more passing yards (269) than Boehme (196).  Although Linfield won, the Lutes were in the game, at least until the second half when they lost their best receiver, Greg Ford, to injuries, along with their starting tight end Gorle and a slotback Griffin.  That left wide receive Isaac Moog as their main passing target.  Even then the Lutes were outscored by only one TD in the second half.  Given Rasmussen's passing ability and assuming a healthy PLU receiver corps, the Lutes game next week with L&C (and the Pios' passing attack) should provide quite an offensive show.  The Bearcat defense will definitely have to step up to contain the Pios and the Lutes (who will both have improved even more by Bearcats' last two games of the regular season).

Holy crap Batman-- mark this day down cause I agree with River !!!  The Lutes are legit.  They have game.

Today reminded me of years past when you had to hold your breath until the final gun actually sounded.  My take is that the  Cats stuffed them between the tackles, but when the Lutes ran multiple crossing patterns that caused the Cats problems.  They didn't take shots doiwn field, but could really move the ball well.  On D they were often outmatched with the Cat wide outs, but the Cat coaching staff decided to grind it out, as the O-line took care of business all day.  Out Salty D really stepped up.  Hedin dominated.

On O Simon was a Stud all day long.  He ran with heart and desire-- a thing of beauty.

On a side note, the officials were horrible (on both sides of the ball)  Not sure where they were from, but WOWeeee. they were brutal.  Last time I checked the fans came to watch a ballgame not the yellow flag brigade !!
The streak is alive at 55 !!!  That is awesome.  It appeared that the Cats got out of this game injury free

Phone it in Cat Fans-- Today was awesome

It was great to see PLU back in form. I really thought it was a great game to watch as a fan. Congrats to both teams for a well fought battle.

Stopped at Country Cousin for breakfast and heard Linfield had been there earlier...as L & C was there when we got there and just finishing up. Economy is good for that great breakfast spot!

One incident I was curious about..... PLU kicked an extra point and it was blocked by Linfield. After it was blocked several players were going for the ball on both teams....the kicker for PLU then kicked the ball out of bounds. The refs called a penalty for that.......then nothing happened to penalize PLU. They didn't move the ball back on the kickoff or anything...so I'm wondering why they even call a penalty if you don't get penalized? If he wouldn't have kicked it a Linfield player could have picked it up and ran it back for a safety or whatever.... I don't understand that? Can somebody explain that to me why they were't penalized in any way other than throwing a flag on the field and calling it a penalty...what's the purpose?

D O.C.

That mayhem the Pioneers pulled out will put fans in the seats the rest of the season.

Bet their SID is going bonkers rewriting the record book and all.

Good observation. I wasn't aware that happened (I knew they dropped a flag) , but didn't realize there was no actual penalty. Can't wait to read an answer. Did they pick the flag up?

They announced and called the penalty . They didn't wave it off. But then nothing was done to penalize PLU on the next play...which was the kick off.

Great win today 'Cats! PLU came out firing but once the 'Cats defense settled down they battled the rest of the game to hold PLU to 155 yards on their final 10 possessions and only allowed one short porch TD. Huge props to Linfield Rover Christian Hanna who was inserted at corner late in the 2nd quarter when 2 our of our 3 main corners when down with injuries (Skore and Comfort) and just flat got the job done.

It was a fun game to watch and loved the 'Cats grinding our yards in the running game today but the penalties hampered us offensively today.  Need to get that cleaned up but it was fun to see a well contested game today.

Go 'Cats!

RP  and Blue,
On that call they flagged him for illegal kicking, the penality was that the extra point would be no good ??????  Since it happened after the block, I thought that they would march it off on the kickoff.  Like I said in an earlier post, I think these guys, came straight over from a pee wee football game for sure

Another bogus call was the holding call on #1 down at the 1 yard line. That reeked.

Perhaps the same officiating team chose the game picture on the Lutes Football page. ;) Click here:  http://www.golutes.com/sports/fball/2010-11/releases/20101023lpccwj

On the other hand; Here is a story about a group of refs being punished for doing something good. ???  http://sports.yahoo.com/highschool/blog/prep_rally/post/Washington-referees-may-face-ban-for-charity-pin?urn=highschool-279246

First, the most impressive aspect of the Loggers execution was not their offensive stat line. It was the fact that they participated in 162 plays on offense and defense and did not commit one live ball penalty. They had two dead ball fouls for Unsportsmanlike Conduct including one from a non-participant sideline player. They had one blatant illegal formation (on a special team play I believe) penalty which was declined.  I can't believe UPS can go 94 offensive plays including 68 passing plays and not hold one time, false start one time, block in the back one time or PI. Participate in 68 additional defensive plays and not have one penalty.

As far as the game itself, I have never seen anything like it. Both teams played until they were physically exhausted.  I saw players from both teams display exemplary fortitude and toughness.  Kniffin is a beast. The LC team had so many big plays from different players that it would be unfair to single one out. I guess that was Coach Thomas on the UPS sideline coaching his butt off trying to will his team to victory. Not easy dealing with a game in which the offense scores 64 points, amasses 643 total yards in regulation, has the lead with 27 seconds left and ends with a loss.

LC stayed with their base D alignment the whole game although I may have missed something. They may have been limited by available personnel or thought that was their best chance to stop them. The Loggers in turn just kept throwing the ball to Kniffin and the single coverage until he was too tired and injured to catch the ball anymore. Kniffin's size advantage was game changing although #5, the corner who had to defend the rec and the Backjudge, adjusted well after halftime.

The next three teams will be the best ones LC has played all year.  LC has significantly progressed this year but the truest test will be against these quality programs.
