it seemed like even community members were coming out. As my friend BCP would say, it's the best small-college football atmosphere around. You guys have a good thing going up there in McMinnville.

Thanks Chatter.  McMinnville and the 'Cats football program has a very strong bond and the community has always backed the 'Cats for decade upon decade.

I haven't been everywhere in DIII so I'm not an authority where the 'Catdome stacks up nationally but I've seen enough big games at Linfield to know our fans are knowledgeable and when they are into a game the 'Catdome is a hard place to beat to watch small college football.

Also props to WC11 for the videos sent in.  Would love to have a look at the Lamson Leap from a side angle... maybe that will come out in the end of the year hi-lite film.

Just watched the highlight plays from last week....had to be impressed with some of the great blocks by Linfield's O-line and the Lamson run was awesome!

Props to Bearcat Cody Pastorino for being selected for the NWC football student-athlete of the week for his play against Menlo.  He blocked a punt for the third week in a row.  Against Menlo, his blocked punt was picked up by teammate Kyle Yatabe who took it in from the 3-yard line for a score.

Go Bearcats!

That's pretty impressive--3 weeks in a row.  Props to that guy and to the coaches who developed the scheme to get him to the ball.

No kidding.
During the WILDCAT - PLU game I wondered on the NWC-SCAIC update board who blocked the PLU kick - and was not surprised to find out it was my fav Hedin.

Cody's a player for sure. The scheme can only do so much. Pure undeniable desire does the rest :) Yet another standout two-sport athlete for WU (basketball and football)

Talent helps a lot too.  Being a basketball player he's probably got some hops.

The current PLU head coach was our designated kick blocker back in the day. 6'4"-6'5" with speed and could jump.

How's this for a vote that the Pios are legit again.  One each Pioneer -- one on offense and one on defense -- named to the D3Football Team of the Week.

Offense
"TE Shawn Evans, Jr., Lewis and Clark
Evans caught three touchdown passes, the last with 1.7 seconds left to lift the Pioneers past Puget Sound 68-64. He had 180 yards on eight receptions."

Defense
"DE Riley Mitchell, Jr., Lewis and Clark
It might seem odd to select a defensive player from a team which gave up 64 points, but without Mitchell it would have been worse. Mitchell had three sacks for a loss of 26 yards and caused two fumbles in the 68-64 win against Puget Sound."

Just looked at the West Region Rankings. We have our work cut out for us to move up...and if we don't we'll have to be road warriors.....like PLU in '99.

If you guys really want to try and be PLU from '99, I'm down for a first round rematch. ;D

Right now I'd take road games over being out of the playoffs.

So with CLU, Redlands, Linfield, and PLU all right there in there in the West Regional Rankings mix is there some actual chance that the committee could take all four?  I saw WC11 mentioned this in passing on the SCIAC board a few days ago but I figured that it had a snowballs chance in hell so gave it no nevermind.  Anybody on here think it has any merit?  And you Bearcats can relax.  I know that winning out by PLU is not a given.  I'm not even counting out a L&C upset just yet, much less that last game against Willamette.

GHC was promoting PLU at Linfield with CLU going East.  I was thinking a '99 redux, starting a run to the title by avenging our only loss of the year on the road in the first round.

I'm less encouraged after checking out the regional rankings.  We have Coe, Bethel, and even Redlands trailing in their conferences but ranked ahead of us in the West.  I kinda guessed the win over Cal Lu would have been worth a little more. There are only 6 "Pool C" bids given out nationally.  Figure one in Ohio, one in Northern Ill., and probably one in Texas.

Oh well, it's outta our hands and we can't focus on that anyway.  Big tests in two of the last three weeks.
