Awesome, you are so right.  We shouldn't put off things we want to do in our lives.  I have family in Seattle and have never been there so I think a trip out west to see them with a side trip to see that fabulous boat is in order.  Maybe next year and I can bring my favorite LB with me.   ;)  :-*

Right now I'd take road games over being out of the playoffs.

So with CLU, Redlands, Linfield, and PLU all right there in there in the West Regional Rankings mix is there some actual chance that the committee could take all four?  I saw WC11 mentioned this in passing on the SCIAC board a few days ago but I figured that it had a snowballs chance in hell so gave it no nevermind.  Anybody on here think it has any merit?  And you Bearcats can relax.  I know that winning out by PLU is not a given.  I'm not even counting out a L&C upset just yet, much less that last game against Willamette.

I'm less encouraged after checking out the regional rankings.  We have Coe, Bethel, and even Redlands trailing in their conferences but ranked ahead of us in the West.  I kinda guessed the win over Cal Lu would have been worth a little more. There are only 6 "Pool C" bids given out nationally.  Figure one in Ohio, one in Northern Ill., and probably one in Texas.

Oh well, it's outta our hands and we can't focus on that anyway.  Big tests in two of the last three weeks.
Still plenty of football to be played before the playoffs--obivously PLU will have a big challenge and Willamatte--a loss will kill them but a win could boost their ranking.  I think Linfield's loss to CLU hurt PLU as well because while they beat CLU they lost to Linfield.....had Linfield beat CLU we'd probably see PLU ranked over CLU.....  still games to be played that may impact the rankings....Wartburg vs. Central is the biggest one but there are a few other games in the West that may impact things as well.  I also think the perofrmance of other regions will have their influence as well....

413,
Anytime, The boat deal is pretty sweet, it sits right out the back door of my office--so when I am in the field it could be the Sound !!!  Seattle is awesome,  or depending on how this season plays out we may be forced to tailgate together-- That would be an event for sure !!

I think the one thing that's easy to forget with the regional rankings is that some weak AQs aren't even ranked right now. MWC anyone?

Chaos in the CCIW and IIAC are probably your best friends at this point. A Central upset might keep both Coe and the Dutch out...maybe. If Auggie could pull off a win and Wheaton knocked off NCC, anything might be possible. A few OAC upsets (Ohio Northern) wouldn't hurt either...

Obviously a Bethel loss would be great for you as well, but I'm praying against that outcome  ;D

Aside from playoffs, the weeks when the regional rankings are released are my favorite part of the season. Everything gets a lot more interesting and the games seem to take on an extra level of intensity. For Bethel, Linfield, PLU, CLU, Central, etc. the playoffs have really already begun. None of them can afford another loss and if they keep winning, they all have at least a shot at the dance.

Man I love DIII playoffs! I'm hoping PLU wins out just to keep the heat on the selection committee

Just looked at the West Region Rankings. We have our work cut out for us to move up...and if we don't we'll have to be road warriors.....like PLU in '99.

If PLU and Redlands both win out, my guess is that it'll be both or neither.  If both teams get selected, I think you will see a 1999 redux, with PLU heading to Linfield and Redlands heading to CLU.  In addition to saving money, that saves the NCAA the awkwardness of sending the Lutes to Thousand Oaks despite PLU's head-to-head win.

Important difference between Thomas and Willenbrock: Thomas' offense is exciting and effective enough that it will actually attract better recruits.  Willenbrock's option?  Not so much.  As probably the only person on this board - other than Logger fans - who's actually talked with Coach Thomas a couple of times, I've been very impressed with him, and I still believe UPS will be very competitive in 2-3 years.

You weren't around then but people said the exact same thing about Willenbrock when he first started too.  Maybe you're right with Thomas but that doesn't change the fact he's high comedy when it comes to talking with the media.

RFB,

Fine with me...Looks like they got off to a good start getting rolled by Oxy and getting monkey stomped by Linfield.

Kind of like Coach Smith wrecking that fine tuned ferrari he was given from 2006-2008. How about we give Coach Thomas a few years to get his rebuilding plan in place and then we can judge?

As long as he keeps making bold/goofy statements like the one in the TNT then I'll keep on having fun with it.  We have two other coaches in the NWC trying to "rebuild" their programs and I have yet to read one quote from either Buckley or Sulages that even come close to the hot air Thomas is blowing.  He may be a Wunderkind but his quotes are hilarious.

Tully is the funniest coach in the NWC.  Hands down.

Oh come on!  Speckman is the funniest coach in the NWC...not even close.  Tully is the most unintentional funny coach.  Big difference there.  I've said it before and I'll say it again...Tully is the master of saying a lot but nothing at all.

Always helps when you actually talk to the person you're talking about.
