As probably the only person on this board - other than Logger fans - who's actually talked with Coach Thomas a couple of times, I've been very impressed with him, and I still believe UPS will be very competitive in 2-3 years.

You weren't around then but people said the exact same thing about Willenbrock when he first started too.  Maybe you're right with Thomas but that doesn't change the fact he's high comedy when it comes to talking with the media.

RFB,

Fine with me...Looks like they got off to a good start getting rolled by Oxy and getting monkey stomped by Linfield.

Kind of like Coach Smith wrecking that fine tuned ferrari he was given from 2006-2008. How about we give Coach Thomas a few years to get his rebuilding plan in place and then we can judge?
No at all like that---Coach Thomas was given a run down ford festiva......and kept it! :)

RFB, do you mean to say that Linfield then was:

and Linfield now is:

Nawwh, I'm sure you really didn't mean it. ;) ;)

Ask Brian Widing and he'll say it felt like Linfield was a Mack Truck from the way he was continually ran over this year.

Hot of the presses...."Liz Heaston to use of remainder of eligibility and transfer to Linfield so she has an opportunity to sack Widing!"

These Regional rankings are wacky, wacky and more wacky!     Whoever made them is very off-base!

Mount Union - #3 in the North -- No way!

Hardin-Simmons - #8 in the South   -- No way!  (They and LC are the best one loss teams in D3)

WWW - #2 in the West  -- No way!

Linfield - #8 in the West -- No way!!!

My bet is three of these four teams will make Regional finals and two will make the semi-finals.    Maybe all four.   (H-S might not if they meet MH-B again in the first or second rounds.)

GO CATS! GO!
GO CATS! GO!

This has been a strange year from the "get go."  It sounds to me that the CLU win over the Cats was a fluke....I mean their star running back for the game is not even on the team anymore.  What's with that?  I can't imagine anything but the Cats being headed for the  playoffs at this time of the year with PLU and Willamette probably setting at  home, especially after the Bearcats hand the Lutes their second loss.  Glad to see L&C becoming competitive again.

As usual, Wildcat11 is doing a superb job.....Why doesn't Carnahan just hire him full time as the Recruiting Promotions Director.  I bet he could run an advertising campaign in the local Portland and Salem media and double the attendance.
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

CatDad

I said this last year and it holds true this year.. rankings don't mean much... if you want to win it all you have to got through Mr. Union or UWW.... that being said we can't forget that this team is a road warrior team. They have made three trips to LA, a trip to SF and a trip to Wisconsin the past two seasons... they have experienced being on the road for long periods of time... and have been very successful...  last week was a win ugly game which every championship team has some where during their run.... the Cats are just about to hit their stride and if they have to play every game on the road once the playoffs start.. i'll put my money on them...

GO CATS!!

We all need to remember that the regional ranking committee is NOT the selection committee. It is my understanding that they are two separate entities. Maybe Ralph or Pat can expand on this.

Enlighten me criswyly. Which rb do you mean? I looked on their roster and media updates , but couldn't figure it out.

Actually, Mosier, the 23 year old running back from Moorpark JC who racked up 202 yards in the second half, did not start. He's gone. The starting running back is still there - and effective enough.

I wonder who started when the Solutes lost to the Nolutes. Mosier got over 100 yards in that game. Then had to go bye-bye.

Well said, CatDad.   Agree 100%.   Look out anyone who meets LC; this team is ready to roll.

I think the SCIAC title may come down to Cal Lu versus Redlands, and the Bulldogs host that game.

Steel Curtain,

They have already played each other and Cal Lu won, at Redlands. The only way for Redlands to win the SCIAC is if they tie for the title, and then Redlands would go because Cal Lu was the last to go. It should be interesting, to say the least.

Not really. The regional committee ranks the teams but the national committee, which includes two members from each regional committee, makes the at-large decisions. They use the same criteria, however.

I don't know what planet these regional ranking experts are calling in from but Whitewater is clearly not #2 in the West and Linfield is not #8.  Guess we'll just have to wait until the playoffs begin and prove them wrong in a BIG way.  Maybe after the season is over they can be handed their "pink slips" and we'll get some guys in the future that have more knowledge than these guys.....they must have been taking lessons from some of the wacky political pollsters in this crazy season.  Must be getting close to Halloween with a full moon!  Over and out aliens from Mars come back to planet Earth and watch a d3 football game or two and you'll see how far off base you are!
