BCP and Logger54, just my opinion, but the '08 and '09 seasons sealed the deal because it became clear how inflexible Coach W was. Three yards and a cloud of dust (or mud, as the case sometimes was) simply did not work, yet UPS still tried to grind it out. Most revealing in '09 was when Williams got hurt in the PLU game, and Spencer Crace came in out of necessity and almost surprised an excellent Linfield squad at their place, using the short passing game. Too little, too late.

So it was time to move on. Thomas may use hyperbole for the benefit of the program, but he is imaginative and creative. I don't know if UPS will become "Redlands north", but the players love him (that was not the case with Coach W) and understand where he is trying to take the program. I do expect improvement, but we have a long way to go. So far, all we have done is to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory three times and play one good quarter against Willamette.

BCP, I will be in Salem for the baseball series this spring, along with McMinnville. NWC baseball is awesome.

- including a near upset of a very hungover Linfield team coming off a 52-28 beatdown from Willamette.

BCP, way to work that in.

I hear Brian Widing's favorite new hobby is cloud watching.  He discovered it while spending so much time on his back this past season at the 'Catdome.

Weak, WC11.  You need new material.  Dean Hansen just retired, maybe he can help you out while you're busy with WC14. :)

No team will want to play Linfield, no matter where the 'Cats are rated in the playoff picture.  Only 2 teams have played Whitewater close in the past few years........Mt. Union and Linfield.

Well, I am scared.  :-\

No need to be scared Duff...SJU definitely won't be in the field this year  ;)

Back in my day, SJU "left no doubt" in McMinnville.  Ahhhhh...glory days.  :D

The Johnnies shall rise again!

Till then, I have Wildcat, Warhawk, and Purple Raider gear at home--my bases are covered.

Well....the first thing I wrote was pretty crude so I replaced it with something more G rated (something about Widing and WU co-eds and Linfield football players).  I guess the fact I'm having a little girl is making me soft and I removed it.

Duff,

I still hate you for that day.........

Seriously not being snarky: I think losing by three in 2008 counts as "close."

What don't you like about the Lutes?
What don't I like? Wow, I should be careful here; this is a Washington paper. In reality, we like to think of ourselves as a classy program, and they are too. They're all nice guys. But they're a finesse team, so we like to go out and hit them in the mouth. And their pre-game warmup is pretty ridiculous, so that gets us going.

Their pre-game warmup?
Yeah. They come out with no shoulder pads on, yelling and clapping and yoo-hooing. If you've ever seen it, you will know exactly what I'm talking about. And they hold hands. They're just ... they're a very interesting program, put it that way.

Congratulations to Aaron.

Unless LS was only talking playoff games, UWSP needs to be added as well - a 17-16 WIN two years ago sounds close to me! ;D

Duff,

Count on it because if that happens then the 'Cats are one or two rounds deep and that would be a blast.  Would love to get UST in back-to-back years. :)

Anderson is out tomorrow for Whitworth (same ankle that kept him out last year).  Rats chances to beat Willamette just went from slim to none.

Was wondering last week why he disapeared in the middle of the game--now we know.
