Let's get down to it.

How about not just outscore Lewis and Clark, but put the onus on Fisher and crew? Let's
just blitz the tar out of Welch's offensive line from the get go. So he can run around back there; not all game.
Of course, this is based on I have not seen him. Doesn't matter. He's a  f r e s h m a n.

Welch may be a freshman, but he is performing at the D3 level like some of the best of the freshman quarterbacks at the BCS level.

Hopefully he fares better than these two ... Tate Forcier is riding pine this year and has only seen the field when the guy who took his job gets hurt ... Barkley is on a team that is struggling (for USC standards) and is doomed from Bowl Games for two years...

I get the point though  :D

OK, he may take Boehme's spot the next three years....but he has not felt Hedin and Gonzales on his ass yet. We will welcome him to the NWC Saturday.

Well, maybe he'll pee all over his own stadium then MonroviaCat  ;D

Anyone who saw Ralph Pineda's earth-shattering backside hit on Welch during the 3rd quarter Saturday would agree that the freshman actually got introduced to the NWC last week.   ;)

So, that's the same Ralph Pineda who's still chasing Boehme? OK, Welch has been softened up and must be ripe for the pickin'.

I'm a little late in chiming in -- Congrats and best wishes WC11 on the new addition to your family.  :)

Eric Hedin and Sparky Gonzales are DEs who are the keys to Linfield's pass rush.  Take them out, and your passing may have a chance.   Hedin, of course, is #1 in sacks and Gonzales is #2.  What is surprising though is that Hedin is only #6 in total tackles, far behind Pineda who is #1, and as a linebacker has few chances to make a sack.  Even more surprising is there is no other Linfield player until LB Higgins ranked 34th in the NWC in total tackles.  Gonzales is not even listed on the indiv stats.

river

As to QBs, Boehme is #1 in total offense with 2297 yards, 357 rushing and 1940 passing.  Welch is #2 with 2222 yards, 958 rushing and 1264 passing.  The game average is very close, with Boehme at 287.1 yards per game and Welch at 277.8 yards a game.  Boehme is #3 in NWC total offense passing but is behind in rushing (#8).  Welch is #1 in total offense rushing but is #4 in passing.    Welch is #1 in scoring with 14 TDs, Boehme is tied for #6 with 9 TDs.  Given such close stats, Welch cannot be dismissed just because he is a freshman, especially with a "start-up" team while Boehme is at the helm of a (Wildcats will like this) finely-tuned machine.

Didn't mean to dismiss Welch, just pound him when there's an opportunity.
Respect what he's done, yeah, but he's the reason Lewis & Clark will get no more well wishes from me. They are 'there'.

Willamette has something to cheer about too.  Brian Widing is #1 in passing efficiency with 201.1 eff. to Boehme's (#3) 154.9 eff.  Widing's completion percentage is 69.1 (astounding) to Boehme's (almost as good) 60.2.

You can compare the numbers for Boehme and Welch all you want. The key is that Welch has not faced a defense anywhere close to Linfield's this year. Linfield is ranked #39 in total defnse in the nation for D-III. The next closest that Welch has faced in Willamette, #80.

A few comments about your analysis here:  First, I think it's quite common for a LB to have more total tackles than a DE (looks like at least 8 of the top 10 are LBs)--I'd say it's actually quite amazing that a DE IS #6 in the conference. As for you comment about a lack of linfield players ranking in tackles---this might be due to the fact that Linfield has allowed 30ish less first downs then any other team in the NWC which translates to the oposing offenses being on the field less which means less opportunties to make tackles.  For instance--Linfield's D has about 65 less plays than Willamette's....Pacific and Lewis and Clark are closer to Linfield in the lowest defensive plays but I think that is because it just takes fewer plays to score against them....just a thought.... :)
Go Cats!

If I hear correctly the 'Cats are treating this as a playoff game for many reasons. Time to become road warriors once again!! Been there! Done that!!!

GO CATS!!

The "Pee" jokes were old the day after the game. What is the juvenile fascination with it?

All you adult sideline keyboard cowboys riding the jocks of the Linfield/Willamette players and wishing for Welch's pounding will be in for a surprise Sat.

"treating this as a playoff game"  Really?  Like a playoff game?

Welch has nothing to prove. His three NWC player of the week awards, his excellent offensive stats  and LC's best overall season in a decade says it all.

Prediction Sat: PLU 35 WIlliamette 7   maybe the refs will make "speck" stay off the field during this game.

What PeeDad, you don't like the jokes?
