The "Pee" jokes were old the day after the game. What is the juvenile fascination with it?

All you adult sideline keyboard cowboys riding the jocks of the Linfield/Willamette players and wishing for Welch's pounding will be in for a surprise Sat.

Probably not the best way to get them to stop...

I suspect the PLU-Willamette game will be much, much closer than that.

What is surprising though is that Hedin is only #6 in total tackles, far behind Pineda who is #1, and as a linebacker has few chances to make a sack.

Come on River...are you really going to make me explain this to you?  Eric Hedin is a freaking defensive end and is the only defensive lineman in the NWC in the top 10 (#6), let alone, top 15 in the conference in total tackles, while Pineda (who is a stand out LB) is playing freaking middle linebacker.  Hedin has 12 more solo tackles to go along with the 17 sacks and 24 tackles for loss.

Not taking away anything from Pineda but Hedin should be the hands down NWC defensive player of the year and I don't think it will be close when the coaches vote on it.
-------------------

Welch is outstanding as a redshirt-Freshman...great numbers and will be a force over the next 3 years in the NWC.  He's going to be damn tough but as far as this year....it won't be even close when the coaches vote on the offensive player of the year when they give it to Boehme....again.

Lever Street

Boehme could have far better numbers, but for the fact that he spends so much time on the bench when the 'Cats build big leads (almost every game).  I suspect that the L&C QB has been playing most/all of every game.  If you want a fair comparison, multiply Boehme's stats by 1.5 at least.

Go CATS Go!
You can't get to CatDome without seeing Lever Street.   Go Linfield!

"treating this as a playoff game"  Really?  Like a playoff game?

Welch has nothing to prove. His three NWC player of the week awards, his excellent offensive stats  and LC's best overall season in a decade says it all.

Prediction Sat: PLU 35 WIlliamette 7   maybe the refs will make "speck" stay off the field during this game.

I notice that you didn't predict a score for the L&C/Linfield game.  Was that because you still haven't gotten over last week's loss?   BTW the infamous story about your wonderful QB came from BearcatPress, but the jokes have mostly been rolling from the Linfield posters -- I'm pretty sure you haven't heard the end of that.  He is a very good QB who will be crushed by the Wildcat defense this Saturday.  Yep, they're good.

As for the PLU/Willamette game, it will probably go down to the wire but afterall, PLU is ranked.   Still looking for a Bearcat victory, but it'll be close.

I certainly hope the refs let Speckman on the field for the game -- he's our head coach. ;)

Have a good final game.  Here's hoping not too many get hurt.  Your team had the best year they've had in a long time and it's only going to get better.   I've been around long enough to remember years past when L&C had a decent football program and it seems to be looking up for you again.

Go Bearcats!

Congratulations on Baby 14' and thanks for posting her picture for us all to see.

With proud father and grandpa as avid Linfield D3 message board posters how soon before you'll be teaching her the posting trade?

Just think she'll be able to witness the 115 year Linfield streak.  That will be one for the books, but I know WC 64' let's make that one game one year at a time for 60 years.

excellent point, Lever. I'd like to think that WU and Linfield (and for that matter PLU) would be undoubtedly at the top of EVERY statistical category in the NWC if their starters didn't sit halfway through the third quarter for most of their games. Willamette's been a slightly different case this year, with a much tougher schedule, but I like the idea of having some adjusted stats to account for the amount of time starters of the power schools spend on the bench.

Piodad, your prediction is bogus man. Make like a hurdler, and get over it. We all have to deal with the Linfield posters' crap (except when we beat em!) but it makes it a lot less tense if you're in good spirits about it. Also, no need to trash Speck anymore. That's just flat-out immature. The game's over, focus on Linfield.

As far as NWC POY's go, and for as much as I love Ralph and all he does, it really should be Hedin and Boehme, and likely will. Depending on the depth of Linfield's playoff run, they should both be serious All-American considerations.

WC11/rest of Linfield: Where the hell is Drew Fisher at? I never seem to hear about him anymore. For being preseason All-American, his name doesn't ever seem to come up on the boards. Is he just a quiet workhorse, or does he just not have to work that much because opposing QB's have about 2.5 seconds to get the pass off before Hedin eats them alive?

I could not agree more that Hedin and Boehme are the odds-on favorites for offensive and defensive players of the year. And, for the first time in a while, Linfield is the clear, head and shoulders above everyone else, best team in the conference.  Willamette and PLU are both good teams, but this Cats team is great, offensively and defensively, and I thnk has a chance to go far in the playoffs.

Tackles for loss and sacks are far better measures of defensive end prowess than are tackles, which makes Hedin's accomplishments even more impressive. Linebackers always lead in tackles - 9 of the top ten are LB's as of last week, and the one DL is Hedin at #5. He leads in sacks, and has 24 (!) TFL in 8 games, and 16.5 (!!) sacks. #'s 2 and 3 in TFL are 12 and 11, excellent totals. Enough said.

I am not a Linfield homer; instead I am a UPS fan, and have seen every team now but Whitworth. But the Cats are darn good this year.

You would think that would be the case, that Welch, the L&C QB, plays more than the LC QB, Boehme.  But the stats don't support that conclusion.  In the total offense stats, Boehme made 62 rushing attempts and 221 passing attempts, for a total of 283 plays.  Welch made 134 rushing attempts and 166 passing attempts, for a total of 300 plays, a difference of 17 more plays.  Over 8 games, that comes out to just 2 more plays by Welch per game.  Because Welch made more rushing attempts, that may mean that he spent more actual time on the field.  But in terms of actual number of plays, there is little difference.
