I kind of like being the "underdog" here in the West.......I hope it gets our guys up and ready to rock the boat!
I think I heard Pat say on ESPN-News that either Linfield or St. Johns was the favorite in the West Bracket.... :)

St. Thomas
Sorry--should have been quotes, as in Pat said "Linfield or St. Thomas would be the favorite"...(I wasn't saying either one or the other).
Go Cats!

He was pointing out that you had mis-typed St. John[']s, rather than St. Thomas.

I think I said I liked those two in the top half of the bracket and any of the four teams in the bottom half to get to the regional final. That was my intent, anyway. After they flew through the bracket, it was all a blur. :)

STU has to be the favorite of the bracket.....after all, they did win the MIAC (which is a very good conference) with no losses and are 10-0 on the year. From what I saw last year at the CatDome, they are a very good team. If we play them, they will be the best team we have faced this year. But I feel we can win. But we need to concentrate on beating CLU because they are very good also.

blue,
Are you feeling O.K?
I know it was a hard day on us all who knew our friend Shorty, but all this nice nice talk
is giving me a headache.  ;)  ;)

Anyway nice way to end the regular season yesterday and give key players some rest and many others some well deserved playing time.

I love this time of year, time to bring the" A" game.
One game at a Time!!
Go Wildcats!

Question:
Does Cal L bring sideline heaters or not?
I say yes!
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Congratulations to the team for reaching the playoffs again! And to the coaches for getting them there, and to the wives for supporting the coaches, taking care of everything at home, and adjusting to the changes that football season brings to a family.

I can't wait to see DesertCat! I need to chop some wood for the cooking stove and get going on cookies!

A BIG AMEN to that! Also.... how about a pat on the back to all the volunteers that work behind the scenes to make the Catdome experience a great one for us all. The ticket takers, the ones that hand out the game day programs, the guys who cook the burgers, the girls that work the concessions, security, ushers, the list goes on and on. Without them and the job they do game day just would not be the same. Be sure to say THANK YOU to them when you're at THE CATDOME!

GO CATS!

George Thompson - From what I can remember of the NAIA II playoff selection a team needed to be ranked in the top 25 to be considered for a playoff bid regardless of whether they won their conference or not.  Is that true?

If so, that seems to be a needed change for D3 especially if the selection committee continues to use "strength of schedule" as a criteria for selection.  Let's face it, there are a handful of programs around the nation that are in it to win the national title every year and the bulk of these teams seem to come from specific conferences.  Then there are a bunch of teams content to compete for their league title and a first or second round drubbing.

When Whitewater's seeding is hurt by their so called weak "SOS" a change needs to be made - no one really wants to play them or Mt Union during the regular season and the teams that do are either D2 or NAIA.   For Keith to even bring up UWW's SOS as a factor for them not getting a #1 seed is a BCS approach to justifying their selections.

I may be biased but I would bet that Linfield, PLU, and Willamette would finish 1-2-3 in many of the conferences with AQs.  I would expect that St Thomas, Bethel, and St. Johns would as well.  You could say the same for UMHB, Hardin Simmons, and the ASC's 3rd play team.

Let's figure out a way to force some of the AQ conferences to improve their programs  competitiveness so that they actually deserve to be in the playoffs.  That way deserving teams who try to schedule strong non conference games and end up losing a couple games aren't excluded.
