" You guys are just lucky that I didn't play today "

Wondered when a quote like that would surface!!   ;)

should be saved for the locker room for next year  :-)

Congrats to Linfield on making the playoffs again. Hopefully this game is a little better then last years playoff game. I am happy to see a rematch of the 1st game of the season. Your QB had a rough game with some tipped balls and things that didn't go his way but I know that he is one of the best in the nation and expect a big game from him. He completely dominated in last years playoff game. And according to the stats your Defense has been dominant the rest of the season as well. Looking forward to a good game.

I think PLU got shafted and should have been in the playoffs.

Taking a page out of PLU's book and killing them with kindness ...  I like your style.

What he really means is - You guys have a top notch QB, but he would love to see some punishment returned to the Rocket Boy at the Catedome for some of those decleaters he took last year ... Fair is Fair right?

K4....Rocket Boy took a his quota of hits already down there in TO when he chased down the guy who intercepted the tipped pass. Slowed him enough so someone else could get him from behind to save the eventual winning TD.

George Thompson - From what I can remember of the NAIA II playoff selection a team needed to be ranked in the top 25 to be considered for a playoff bid regardless of whether they won their conference or not.  Is that true?

If so, that seems to be a needed change for D3 especially if the selection committee continues to use "strength of schedule" as a criteria for selection.  Let's face it, there are a handful of programs around the nation that are in it to win the national title every year and the bulk of these teams seem to come from specific conferences.  Then there are a bunch of teams content to compete for their league title and a first or second round drubbing.

When Whitewater's seeding is hurt by their so called weak "SOS" a change needs to be made - no one really wants to play them or Mt Union during the regular season and the teams that do are either D2 or NAIA.   For Keith to even bring up UWW's SOS as a factor for them not getting a #1 seed is a BCS approach to justifying their selections.

I may be biased but I would bet that Linfield, PLU, and Willamette would finish 1-2-3 in many of the conferences with AQs.  I would expect that St Thomas, Bethel, and St. Johns would as well.  You could say the same for UMHB, Hardin Simmons, and the ASC's 3rd play team.

Let's figure out a way to force some of the AQ conferences to improve their programs  competitiveness so that they actually deserve to be in the playoffs.  That way deserving teams who try to schedule strong non conference games and end up losing a couple games aren't excluded.

Andy,

I never knew the NAIA rules.    Your 2nd through 5th paragraphs are spot-on right!

I suggest we all, from many strong conferences, write Joy Solomen, chairwoman of the NCAA-Division III selection committee and voice your thoughts.

I am composing my ideas on this.    But, briefly, teams with 7-3, 6-4 and 5-5 records should NOT get automatic playoff spots even if theY "won" their conference.    You are right: the 2nd and 3rd place teams from the NWC,  ASC,  WIAC,  OAC,  MIAC and IIAC would highly likely beat those weak conference champs.

Both PLU and Redlands were robbed.   The East Coast bias, because of their big population, applies.

I will say more about this soon.   In the meantime,

GO CATS! GO!

I'll get on that.

Mr. Ypsi

I would not oppose a change that a 5-5 AQ is out (MAYBE a 6-4), but 7-3 seems overly harsh for the inclusion principle.  BTW, you left out another conference comparison: the CCIW's EIGHTH (of 8) team (who has not won a conference game this millennium) beat AQ Benedictine by 11. :P

UNLESS AQs were somehow trimmed, to say PLU and Redlands were robbed you're gonna have to say which pool C teams they should have been in over.  It has nothing to do with 'eastern bias' - I suspect (can't prove it) that Hardin-Simmons, Wabash, and Rowan (all also left out) would beat either one.
