Good Evening PPG.

Hope everything is great with you, Mrs PPG, and family down CA way.  I hear you are coming up this way this weekend to see little PPG run over, around, and through the Cal Lu defense.  You and Mrs PPG should be very proud.

When you getting into Catville.  If you and Mrs PPG are not doing anything Friday evening, The Catville Mayor and Mrs Catville Mayor would like to meet you for dinner if you are available.  If you are we can  have some good food and then go down to the 'D' and mix it up with other Cat fans.

I would also invite Wildcat 64 but he just complains about his taxes and asks for special out of state favorites.  Being the good politician I am I can't be bought, or at least he does not have enough to buy me.  I would have to raise his taxes again.  Of course I am always glad to talk to an absentee citizen especially a nice one like 64

you can always email me at my public email mayor@ci.mcminnville.or.us and I will reply with my home phone and email so we can see what we can do.  If you can't make it see you at the tailgate in the moring.

Hey, TopCat!

Since '64 can't make it, he said you could take us to dinner in his place. We pay taxes here. Since you're footing the bill, we choose The Allison. I've been wanting one of their $45 steaks, and I'll want lots of sides with it, of course.
Will you drive so I can suck up a couple $200 bottles of wine?

Thanks!

Great writeup Pat!  I love the insight!

Pat,

I'm not trying to pick a nit here, as you guys did an outstanding job on the team capsules, and that had to have been difficult to do so quickly, but Linfield also had a good run in the playoffs last year.

Wasn't Wartburg Pool A as well?

Again, good job. That's a lot of info to gather. I laughed at the comment about Benedictine.

One other correction is Coach Smith's career record... shouldn't it be 38-11??  unless he was 0-20 somewhere  :-)

All NWC team is here:  http://www.nwcsports.com/sports/fball/2010-11/news/allnwc and once again, if you didn't get a spot on this team, you probably did not play football in the NWC.....3 first team QBs????  C'mon....

Absolutely ridiculous.

Holy Smokes ... I remember when making all conference was an honor ... I had seen the gripes about the NWC All Conference selection issues but this is just bad.

Summary: Linfield's entire team made the list, and the Second Team QB is actually the 4th best in the conference???? At least everyone is included, sharing is caring.  ;D

The thing that makes it even a bit more rediculous is that even with sooooooo many players making the all conference teams there is no place kicker on the first and second teams and only one punter----you'd think they'd have filled out both first and second teams with a full compliment of players....maybe a holder or two.....punt returner.......kickoff returner.....  Is is Saturday yet?
Go Cats!

I would add it would have been appropriate to mention the three NAIA championships(1982, 1984, 1986) won by Linfield for a total of four national titles. It's my understanding the caliber of play in the NAIA at that time was very comparable to D3, so it seems reasonable to include those titles.

BTW... Love the fire on the last few pages Linfielders!  :o  it’s about time, I figured one comment would get some action in here but it was just a little too peaceful for my liking.

Too many responses to address all at once so I will keep it short and sweet... kind of...

-Check the SCIAC stats page, our league leading RB is and has been here to stay. Last time you saw him was... wait a minute!!! Hope you got some good film.
-What makes you think transfer players are only good in their first game on the squad? If anything you should be concerned with a team that last time you played was very unfamiliar with each other, and brand new to the system ... they have a lot more experience under their belt playing together now, and more confidence than ever.
-Lastly, I invite you to check out our top players on O and D, and their futures (as you will see them again next year) as 4 year players in the Cal Lu program. I spent some time with the guys last week and despite my initial concern for too many transfers, it was good to see all of the starters and back-ups that we have that are 4 year guys - and building blocks to the program, in conjunction with the transfers that are doing the right things and being beneficial team players.

Keep the jabs coming - I know I would if I were you! But if I were you, I would be rooting for the wrong team, and would be upset on Saturday after a devistating loss, so good thing...

Now just where can one get that "understanding" Steel Curtain?

Oh! That would be because two NWC schools won the Stagg Bowl the first 6 years in the division?

On D3football.com we list only the D-III titles. We didn't list St. John's NAIA titles in the past, either.

Okay Cat fans here is my 2 cents on the game this weekend. The cats are the best team by far that I have seen in my 2 yrs at clu.they play a very physical game and the qb is dynamite. With that said ,i have never seen clu lose in my 2 years involved with the team.I was not at Willamette, last years playoff game,or at plu this year.I AM NOT GOING TO THE GAME THIS WEEKEND EITHER.GRRR..... I will be watching the game on the internet feed though.SO if that counts as watching live we win,if not the Cats go to round 2.GOOD LUCK TO BOTH TEAMS AND NO INJURIES.
