Still hurting, but am so proud to be a Cat.  Thanks for the picture Oldcat.  A beautiful picture it is.

On another note, for some of those posters who've been blessed with many years.  I just got a roommate down here in Guatemala who is a Cat Alum from the 70's or 80's (he gracefully declined to be specific), Richard Dupont.  He has undergrad degrees from multiple NWC schools I believe.  He also gave me a vintage Linfield sweatshirt from back in his days.  Small world.  Send me a pm if you know him or of him and I'll pass it on.

Congrats once again to the Seniors and thanks for the memories of the last couple years!

So sorry that Linfield is not still in the field.  Thanks for the wonderful football and tradition you all bring to the game!!  Thanks to OldCatProf for the aerial view of the CatDome.  It brings back great memories!!  Let's do it all again next year!!!  I don't know which teams will be at the Stagg Bowl but I promise to wear my Linfield bracelet and wave.  Wish you could all be there!!!
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

WC11,
I really enjoyed reading all the posts this year and respect the dedication you all have for your team. It so much reminds me of when my Dad was a coach in the small towns of the midwest, when the high school game was the life of the town (village). I look forward to next year and the banter that will follow. Thanks for reminding me of my childhood and all the great memories. You are all a great credit to Linfield and what it stands for!

Thanks Olinemom. You have been a great fan of Linfield College football over the years. I know everyone appreciates your support (especially the brownies  :D).

Reading the above post by dahlby reminded me of my first introduction to college football way back in the early 1960's. My family was living in Alameda, California (a little island in the bay across from San Francisco and Oakland) at the time.  I was eight years old and my dad would drive me and my two brothers over to Oakland where we would park the car and ride the bus to Cal-Berkely to watch the Golden Bears. Some of you  may remember him as the QB for Dallas and Denver, but back then Craig Morton was leading the Bears. Their head coach was Marv Levy and Bill Walsh was an assistant. Some of the teams I got to see were Illinois, Air Force, Missouri, and Minnesota. We would sit high up in the stadium. I remember the trees on a hill directly behind us. After the game we would run down onto the field and ask the players for their chin straps.  :D  What a fond memory of days gone by.

A side note: Morton played in 25 games at Cal and they only won 7, yet he was named All-America was later inducted into the College Hall of Fame. Just proves you can have personal success even as your team struggles to win.

Thanks dahlby.

Thanks guys for the words.  I just wish you all could have had a window in the huddle after the game.  It was incredibly heart-wrenching to watch but just shows how much these guys cared about what they have done with their time at Linfield.

I know both sides felt they played "sloppy" but I think it was more due to the talent on the field stonewalling the other during regulation and into both OT's.  UST's defense did what nobody else could and slow down the 'Cats offense and you have to tip your hat to them.  Sucks and it will sting for a long time but you just have to love the heart this team played with all year long.  Just a great group of Linfield guys.

Well said, 11. I was at the postgame team huddle after the '02 St. John's playoff game, which Linfield had a chance to tie with their final possession. The feelings and words expressed must have been very similar to what the '10 team experienced, the finality of it all, especially for the seniors. The class and character of the Linfield program was displayed in those moments, and in the big picture, winning goes beyond what the scoreboard says.

And THAT was well said, also, Steel Curtain. That's what we all love about Linfield football.

Thank you, 11, for all you do for us fans and the time you spend on the website. It is greatly appreciated. Now you can relax and enjoy that new little Wildcat. And there go your excuses not to put up outside lights.

I will just have to speak the unspeakable to get rid of the grrrrrr  (apparently).

No points in the first quarter is not LINFIELD football.

A five-yard procedure penalty, three incompletions, then missed a 47-yard field goal try in OT?  That is not LINFIELD football.

Picking up a loose ball deep in your own territory surrounded by the enemy (twice)?  That is not LINFIELD football.

There. I'm burnt. My problem is I Expected to Win in overtime. You can't win them all - the time. It's over.

Yes, I'm sure many young men feel the finality of it.  I know the Wartburg kids did after their final game in 2003.  They watched the Linfield field goal sail over the cross the bars as time ran out giving the Wildcats a 23-20 victory and they were emotionally drained.  The good news is they all survived the disappointment and are now hard working professionals, husbands, fathers and loyal Wartburg fans.

Mrs. Warthog and I are probably two of the few who saw both Willamette and Bethel play in person this year.  Willamette couldn't have stayed within two touchdowns of Bethel.  This isn't a slam against the NWC.  I firmly believe Bethel is that good.
