Watched the game. I think the big difference was the offensive gameplan WW had in place for their back up QB vs Mt Union's for theirs. Felt like Mount made their QB do too much...but then again Coppage made running the football look WAY too easy. Gotta give the WW D credit for not letting Mount establish the run and force the MU QB into some bad throws.

I still think if MU was in the west, they wouldn't have made about 40% of the NC games they've been to.

And Coppage was unstoppable - big plays and 305 rushing yards against Mt. Union?  Unbelievable.  I doubt if any defense in the West Region would have been able to stop him if he was playing with the same intensity as today.

Coppage ran for 109 (2 td) against Linfield in 2009. Still a lot, but not the 299 (according to the d3 front page) he got today.
Mt. made too many mistakes. Turnovers led to points for UWW.  It was a good game to watch. This was the Union qb first college start.

Looking at the box score, I believe UWW scored 0 points off of turnovers. Mt. did have too many turnovers, but so did UWW. Mount scored 14 points off tournovers.

BoBo:
Thanks for the correction. I should have said the turnovers prevented Mt. from scoring.  :)

My bad on Coppage's rushing yardage.  The 305 yards was total offense.  He got 6 yards receiving. 8-)

...did anybody watch the game?

Yes. They both were big, fast, and tough. UMU hurt themselves with mistakes that could not be overcome.
It was heartening to see team quarterbacks come in and try their best to run their machines. Admirable.

I watched the Stagg via the Internet for free. Someone on the WIAC board posted the following link and it worked just fine. http://channelsurfing.net/watch-espnu.html

I watched it on one of the many ESPN channels.  It was a good game, but one in which I didn't care who won. ;)

I looked for it online, since my cable provider doesn't carry ESPNU, and couldn't find it. So I went to my daughter's and watched on her giant screen HD TV. Very good game. UWW did a great job shutting down the UMU running game and forcing the inexperienced QB to throw. Coppage and SHorts are both incredible athletes.

Shorts is gonna get a shot in the league. WW did a good job of limiting his big plays though (only one play over 50 yards if I remember right). If Shorts is allowed to get open and make one more play then the Raiders probably would have been celebrating number 11, even with Coppage going off.

Me and Homer are sayin' with Aaron Boehme as their quarterback either team would have walked away.

It looks like Bearcats Ralph Pineda, Walter Robinson, and Scott Schoettgen acquitted themselves pretty well in the Tazon de Estrellas All-Star game yesterday:

QuoteSchoettgen caught six passes and led all players with 117 yards in receptions. He scored touchdowns on catches of 23 yards with 12:53 left in the third quarter and 21 yards with 11:47 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Considering he is an All-American, I would hope so. That seems fairly obvious.
