That Eastern Washington game was really fun to watch.  I only caught the second half when they were down 0 - 19.
They are now 11 - 0.
Congrats to the Eagles, is that the first football national title for the directional Washington schools?
This has been a lackluster bowl season overall, hopefully, we'll get a great one this Monday.
Central (Wa) was NAIA co champs in 1995.

Did a little research, and discovered the NAIA has had seven co champs as a result of ties since the late 1950s. Too bad there wasn't any tiebreaker available for those games.

LINFIELD fans, if you have not discovered this WILDCATVILLE blog, it might help you get through the winter.

Thanks, DenS. You sent me this link before, but I'd forgotten about it. Looks like there's plenty to read and lots of history.

Go Ducks! Should be a barnburner.

Thanks again for the good wishes. We're enjoying being grandparents.

Rats posted up 2011 schedule.  HSU has been replaced with Chapman.  Redlands and Menlo are still on the Rats slate this year.

I thought the Menlo contract was up this year...a little bummed to see the Oaks still on the schedule.

Nice to have Chapman and a W back on the schedule. Too bad we only had the 2 year deal with HSU, just like our old deal with the UW-Stout Roid Monkeys (Uh, I mean, Blue Devils). Would be nice to get a home and home with a WIAC program again, but the budget was pretty much always big enough for 3 flights (SCIAC, WIAC, and ASC programs) and a WIAC game on top of 3 SCIAC programs might break the bank.

At least I don't have to see my team schedule games against NAIA, DII, JuCo, and whoever else the Cats have to play... ;)

What are you gonna do about a corporate decision? Big mistake to change the whole field for a National Championship game. I only saw the slips that were on camera.

What's happening? Is LINFIELD going to be the only school to win a title for a couple hundred years?   :)

The Ducks should be in the mix for next year, but Linfield remains the only Oregon college program to win a national championship. Disappointing result tonight, that long running play was a killer when the Ducks didn't play to the whistle. In a perfect world, Auburn would be playing TCU next week.

My 8 team playoff plan. This will give us matchups we'd watch and the BCS would make even more $$$ than they are now...

The 6 BCS conferences get auto-bids only if their champion is ranked in the top 12 in the BCS (Meaning this season you don't have to watch VT and UConn play in a BCS bowl). The non-AQ schools are guaranteed 1 bid as well, as long as they too are ranked top 12 in the BCS standings.

Any at-large spots are handed out based on the highest ranked teams (BCS rankings) not recieving an auto-bid.

At large berths are seeded AFTER all auto-bid teams have been seeded.

Seeding can be altered IF two teams within 1 position of each other can be switched to avoid a conference "rematch" (This year you would swap Ohio State and Arkansas since we've seen Ark vs Aub and they are withing one ranking spot of Ohio State).

1st round locations are determined by proximity to the higher seed (If possible).

Semi-final and NC games will be given to the highest bidder (you hear that BCS? Even MORE $$$ for you!)...

(1)Auburn vs. (8)Ohio State @ the Sugar Bowl
(2)Oregon vs. (7)Arkansas @ the Rose Bowl
(3)TCU vs. (6)Stanford @ the Fiesta Bowl
(4)Wisconsin vs. (5)Oklahoma @ the Orange Bowl

Watching the up tempo offenses on display last night makes me wonder if there has been a D3 program with a no-huddle attack, or if there would be a team willing to try this approach in the future?

wildcat11

Steel,

There are a ton of D3 teams running no huddles but I don't think many run them at the pace of Oregon.  It's the next fad in college football but in about 3-4 years something else will come along.

Just a questions that came up in my mind.

Cal Lutheran ran out in about 20 minutes after the Linfield game in September and post up their highlights on YouTube:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8FKZBfrsnU

But after Linfield spanked CLU in the first round I'm still waiting on CLU to post up that clip too....but nothing.  What gives?

I heard the guy who shot that footage had the tape eaten by his dog. Apparently, the scent of the Linfield highlights seemed tasty, so the dog went for it.

That game will be posted up....8 weeks after the 35-7 slapping Linfield put on Willmaette is posted up.  Stay Tuned.
